are those people from the CAC what did they have to say about the snowpack

The snowpack is still very thin and there are a few storm sheers in the upper 30cm as of yesterday. The upper layer is not yet thick enough to be a real problem, but with more load, as in what fell last night, they could become an issue. The danger will increase based on the new snow. There is still some inconsistent layering deep in the snowpack, eg the early rain crust and some small burried surface hoar. These layers could be triggered in an area with a shallow snowpack eg rocks, heavily wind blown slopes, trees etc.

We will be out again tomorrow to have a look at the new snow and its effect

Rumor has it your a trouble maker....... Just sayin....

Thank for coming to Valemount this holiday season, the town sincerely appreciates it. Dont hesitate to contact me at the office with any questions etc. I can be tough to reach there, but will return ALL messages.

See you on the SNOW !

We had a great time... Caribou Grill was one of the best meals I've had in a long time, legacy cabin was awesome, everyone was friendly and helpful.

And thank you for pointing us in the right direction Curtis.

Second hand info from riders up allan today reported up to 1.5' plus of fresh snow in Allan Creek today and there is supposedly more on the way. I will bring back some pictures of Chappell Creek to post tomorrow evening

This is set up for an awesome weekend of fresh pow riding, but please PLAY SAFE ! The new snow will and has increased the avalanche danger rating. Hitting the biggest hills for the Highmark will not make you a winner this weekend. Please enjoy this new snow safely

See u on the Snow:d

Another 10-15cm fell on the town last night and its continuing to hammer down this morning. Highways in either direction are deep ! Drive carefully if ur coming to enjoy all this snow!

Conditions are HIGH, natural acivity has been noticed from the recent loading.

Enjoy the new snow, but LIMIT YOUR EXPOSURE TO SIMPLE TERRAIN !

Help educate others, if you see someone lineing up for a large steep slope, please talk with them and point them to something less exposed and more techinical, its how we learn anyway. We need to help each other (and new riders) out up there

I wish it were that simple, Curtis...

Unfortunately, most of the times others just don't want to listen. :(

I hear a lot of excuses, like "there are lots of tracks on it" or "it hasn't slid yet" etc etc....

I fully agree on what you say about challenging yourself on something more technical. You can ride at a much lower risk level, and really, that's where you *really* learn to ride! It doesn't take much skill to point and shoot, but playing in the trees is a whole other story. :)

Ride safe out there this weekend, guys!

Went up Clemina today and took a wrong turn on the trail and ended up on the plowed section up to the 3km marker. Met the home owner half way and had a quick chat with him, seemed like a decent guy.

We even knew about this plowed section but still ended up on it because of the signs. On the way up they are very misleading, and on the way down there is nothing at all. Everybody up the hill today took the wrong trail so it wasnt just us.
