I just wanted to thank our membership and snowmobilers in general. Today VARDA sent its first remittance from the month of December 2010, to the Canadian Avalanche Center for the Association of British Columbia Snowmobile Clubs, "Buck a Head Program" for the amount of $3155.

The program means that one dollar from every trail pass sold will be donated to the Canadian Avalanche Center. This fundraising initiative is instrumental in supporting snowmobiling specific prevention and awareness programs in BC. These programs have been identified through an extensive collaborative process with a wide range of snowmobiling organizations. Funding these services will be an important component of an overall strategy to ensure safe, enjoyable snowmobiling in BC’s backcountry in the winters to come.

That being said, conditions do seem to be improving, BUT if this warm weather gets worse or the rain gets higher, its not gonna be fun.

Due to the low and cold early season snow pack, we have basically chit at the bottom of the snowpack in most areas and this will take a lot longer to repair itself. This deep chitty snow has potential to step down anytime.

Ride Smart and Dont be in the wrong place at wrong time

Read the link above before every ride. Open all links, snowpack, travel advisory etc and read the information fully

UPDATE !!!!

Special Message from CAC ( Canadian Avalanche Centre ).......

DEEP persistent Slab Avalanches are becoming less likely BUT the Consequences remain Extremely High .

Diligence and Discipline may be required to RESIST Venturing into Complex Terrain even if there are No obvious Signs of Unstable Snow.

Pre-trip planning should involve talking to a Trained and Experienced Riders with LOCAL Knowledge to Determine if a Weakness of Concern has been Removed by Recent Avalanche Activity.

This warm weather is not cool

We have been recieving heavy rain today and the freezing level looks to be rising. Heavy wet snow is reported to be falling up in the hills (at least is snow) at least the trend looks to be cooling


Grooming is on schedule as always, although please bear with us as we try to maintain the trails in these less than stellar conditions

Parking areas have been maintained, although users should be prepared for slushy sloppy snow.

we were in vale last weekend, and there was good snow but ended up socked in for most the trip plus avy conditions were high. A rider from my group accidently triggered one in Clemina on saturday, no one buried or anything, he was spittin blood for a little while though with a sore jaw (dam handlebars!), very lucky for him

Would like to hear how the guy headed into oasis today made out?? We tried it last friday and were socked pretty bad, started punching the trail through the trees after the cutblock and ran out of day!

Just got into Vale from Edm. Clear and 11 to Hinton. At about Moose Lk. started snowing heavy and temp dropped to 1. . Quit snowing just south of Tete Jaune. Drive w/ care.

Just throwing up a note that Chappell will be regroomed tonight for saturday morning. Sick snow conditions out there today and with low vis, its not even touched:d

NOTE: Due to road conditions we are unsure if we can move the groomer back to Clemina at this point for tonights groom. Please check our website later this evening for updated info

Problem seems to be resolved with the groomer issue for Clemina. We are now set for ALLAN AND CLEMINA TO BE GROOMED TONIGHT
