one thing i would like to know is how do you get a cleaner truck by burning more fule ??? like i kinda understand how that filter thing in the exause helps to make the emissions less but to burn more fule to be cleaner i dont know ..... so that means we gotta make more diesel fule so we can burn more in are trucks to have less emissions ?????? I kinda think this is a loose loose situation hear ...

You know i 100% agree with you on that but i extend it as fars as catalytic converters. If you burn less fuel you have less emissions..............right

I am new to this forum stuff. I just traded 03 cummins in and now have an 08 harley edition f350 ! my milage isnt that great right now 20,000 km but it is a nice work truck. I plow snow and haul a mini excavator (4.5ton) with it , lots of power. I want to put a leveling kit and larger tires on it .does anyone have any ideas on this . The rims are 20 inch ,would like to go to a 35 inch tire or something like that

I work at the refinery, and I'd just like to thank you guys for burning so much fuel!

I do my part as well, I put bigger tires on the dMax and run a healthy tune, but I still can't burn as much as the Ford guys.

Kidding aside, I think there were a few magic trucks back in 03 that got insane mileage, but now they're mostly under 20. The biggest thing you can d ois drive like theres an egg under the pedal, try not to brake, and never go over 2krpm.

I just drove to Vernon with 4 people and ski gear and sled deck ( no sleds ) at between 110-130 I got total trip of 15 US MPG. I was pleased with that, as we were using the passing lane and running some windy hilly roads between the cabin and the hill.

I have 2 of 08 6.4's and wish i did not have either of them. I used to get 400 - 450km per tank (95l), but since they installed the new computer update i cant seem to get 300 km per tank(30-32l/100km on the display) . When i took it into ford they told me the computer had no codes and since there has not been any complaints there isnothing they cando. Not only that every time it snow the air filter plugs up and freezes, and i run a full winter front. the local deler told me they can sell me 3-4 filters and change them out as they plug or try not to drive it in the snow.they have had s radiators one heater core. multiple 4x4 problems. new radio, instment cluster, heatrer switchs., and the list continues. one has 28000km and the other has 50000km. I have driven fords my whole life, but will no longer due to 3 lemons in a row.

My business partner and I have been running an '04 and an '08 for pulling toys and our oilfield related businesses. We have been told to wait for that magic mileage mark for the fuel economy to improve on the '08, but it still hasn't hit at 25,000km. The '04 gets around 12 mpg/21 liters/km pulling 10,000lbs on a trailer and another 1000 on the deck. The '08 gets slightly worse but is much quieter doing it and still has some power to spare. Unloaded the 04 gets 20mpg/12 liters/km on flat highway where as the 08 sill gets only 16-17 mpg. City driving is very similar to driving loaded for mileage. I'm just glad to see diesel come down in price.

I am stuck in the early 90's but laugh at the fuel mileage on these new trucks. I drove to blue river pulling a two place sled trailer with two sleds in my 95 ford 7.3 and got almost 900 km on a fill. The guy I followed there in a 2005 chevy duramax got less than half that, pulling the same thing. I also have a 94 dodge with a cummins turning 37 inch super swampers and will still get 700 km on a fill. I know that I don't have the same power a the new trucks but I can still pull anything I will ever need to pull. Why don't they go back to the old mechanical cummins, mines got around 300hp, almost 500,000 kilometers and gets better mileage than a brand new one, seems to me that maybe these big oil companies control the auto industry.

I got an 07 3500 GM and i get ok mileage but you have to look at it this way:if you want diesel mileage buy a JETTA!lol. You can't pull these loads guys are talking about with cars.all of the BIG3 have their good and bad points but they are made to work.If you can shell out 50+k on a vehicle should buying fuel break ya?Just thinkin out loud.;)

what the world really needs is a lighter duty diesel, I need a truck that can pull 10,000 pounds, not 30,000. And I don't want a gas truck.

The big (poor ) Three have them ready as soon as the world pulls out of this recession and people start buying way more stuff than they can afford again.

That sounds like a truck I would buy, theres nothing worse than limiting yourself on vacations because of fuel economy.

Well i have been tracking my millage on every tank for the last while. I can get over 330km per 95l tank but as little as 158km per tank. It seems to change with the weather. Ford told me there is nothing they can find wrong with it. I told them i was loking to trade up to a dodge 1/2 ton. they tried telling me that dodge would not be in buisness in 2 years and i would be back. Grifiths ford used to be the best in town but now i am not sure anymore!

kimwin...you're a meanie. If his mileage is that bad, something is wrong. It's not about the money, it's about breaking down and getting stranded in the middle of nowhere. The mileage makes the difference of about bucks a trip, whoopie.

now stop calling him pathetic. meanie.
