2008 Artic Cat 800 Crossfire Snow Pro

Hello Everyone
I am new here and was looking for some information about the sled I just bought. It has 375 original miles. When I push the button for reverse it beeps like it is supposed to and it "clunks" when it switches and it does go into reverse but it does not idle down when it switches. It stays at 1600 rpm"s through the process. Anyone have any ideas of why it does not idle down during the switch?

And it won’t shift when you first fire it up when it’s cold and idling high. My cousin got a really good deal on a m8 because of that. The guy thought the reverse was gone. The guy was just trying to shift it to early.
