i figure the renegade, mostly because of the gearing tho, depends of the track length on the summit, not sure what they do for gearing in the xps, but a 146" summit would probably rock pretty good, few more ponies than the renegade and quite a bit lighter...

i'm thinking the first mods for the renegade would be a clutch kit, after that there is a multitude of things, all depends how nuch you wanna spend:)

Renegade without a doubt for top speed.... both have the same 800R engine. The only way the summit beats the renegade in a drag race is if the race is only 20 feet long....or up a mountain.....lol

Wrong the Renegade has the HO motor, only the Summits got the R motor.

Newer models but we were racing last week a 2008 Renegade X 800R VS 2011 Summit E-Tec 800. Renegade has a Crankshop pipe, can & a clutch kit. E-Tec was stock except for a can. Summit pulled away for about a 200', then the Renegade passed it like it was tied on. Top speed on the Gade was 181 km/h, not sure about the Summit but not even close on top end. One note though, it was pretty hard packed snow and the summit was bouncing off the rev limiter on top end, even though it was on # 1 clicker. The Gade hit 8200 rpm and stayed there for the entire pass, approx 1/3 mile.

My 04 summit was faster than my 09 summit on the flats. Different story in the hills. I would go with the renegade for top speed.
