Looking to purchase a 2005 Duramax, had a 2003 injector issues, and I heard that the 2006 duramax had glow plug issues. Can't afford a 2007, so does anyone have any advice on a 2004.5 - 2005 Duramax? any issues?

The last Dmax I had was a 2004.5, it ran strong and was a great truck till it hit about 127,000k then the electrical system started giving me grief. GM never could figure out what was wrong so I traded it for a Ford. Other than the wiring issues it never gave me any problems.

I have 280000 km on my 2004.5 with no major issues. Use synthetic oils. Change fuel filters every oil change, etc... If there seems to be an issue arising there are excellent gm diesel forums. I found that what seems to be a large issue is generally a small simple fix.

The way my truck runs I think that it will make at least 500000 km

I would defiantly buy an other one but I don't like the look of the new body style

Have had a 2005 and now a 2007.5 new style and no issues with either. Both still in family and both excellent units. But are well taken care of, thinking that helps. I think the '05 is a better truck than the '07 but happy with both.
