2003 Edge RMK Reverse Troubles

I have a 2003 RMK and when you hit the throttle the engine slows down and shifts to reverse like you were hitting the PERC button. There is a code flashing on the reverse light 2 slow then 8 fast. Anyone out there have any ideas or suggestions?

That tells me that there has to be a battery somewhere under the hood to provide memory holding power......could be the issue

No battery, probably a flash memory chip or something that has power when the sled & electrics are running.
