I've been running the 377's. I replace a belt a year (Just cause) and we sled ski 75% of the time, so I have two dudes on my sled while climbing, mind you, we put a road in first, but having 340+ pounds on the sled will put any belt through a workout.

Turns out, sledding isn't a cheap activity....

the 383 replaced the discontinued 166, still the same compound tho, the 377 is the same dimension as the 383, but handles the heat better. i run the 377 on my rev 151, i was told i need to because of the dj kit i have. if you do not have issues blowing belts, go for the cheaper ones. if you need all the strength you can get, go with brp, better belt IMO. i have tried everything, and thats what i learned. CUSO is right, the brp belts give you some warning at least :rolleyes:

I've had the opposite experience actually, where the BRP belt was the one that exploded, and many of the 08 XP belts I saw and watched while riding EXPLODED! not just delam'd. Been running the Gates and Dayco's for years on mod sleds, never had an issue with them, the BRP belts are made on the cheap by Gates as takethebounce indicated, they just make them cheaper for BRP. Going on season 4 on the same Gates belt on my tube chassis sled, I don't see the point in replacing it, there is hardly any cord showing and no cracking between the lugs. Probably get 1000 kms a year of all mountain on that sled, so its getting close to 4000 kms.

I thought the 383 replaced the 166 and it was a harder compound, this was BRP's stop-gap fix for the exploding belt issue.

As hagman said, blowing belts is a clutching issue and motor alignment issue, not a belt issue. If it was a belt issue related to HP, the large boosted HP sleds would be popping belts left right and center, however this is not the case.

the only 377 belt i ever had explode was me seeing how fast my sled would go down the trail. soo needless to say 160km/h + 377 belt is a bad combination. put on new 377 and have over 3000km on it now.

was going to try the dayco xtx this year. can anyone tell me the diffrence between a xtx5034 and a xtx5025. They are the same sled but the 08's they call for the 5025, all the rest of the years they call for a 5034

I have an 09 summit 800 that I shimmed the secondary 3mm, and have over 2000km's on that belt, which is a spare now. I like the 377. Just got a 2012 summit 800 with the 391 belt. Rode it for 50 km noticing how hot the clutches got and all the belt dust! Just shimmed that one 2mm to the same specs as my 09. It is a clutching issue definitely. Now is much better. 391 Is stickier than 377 for sure but same size and price. We'll see how it works out.

The belt is $184. The gst brings it close to $200. The government is partially to blame for this thread. Lol.

the XTX 5025 is 1.5 inch wide, the 5034 is 1.535 inches wide, so just a slightly wider belt, they are the exact same length.

the XTX 5025 is 1.5 inch wide, the 5034 is 1.535 inches wide, so just a slightly wider belt, they are the exact same length.

Makes sense now, I just come in from putting a new xtx 5034 belt onto my 09 XP, and it seemed way tighter then the stock 377 belt. I had to adjust it alot. I kind of thought it was the wrong one.

383 are garbage at least on all of our revs they were they didn't hold power. 166's are the only ones that worked on our 07 rev and our 04/06 revs all 151" plus tracks. However I've had 2 166 blow up and threw me 20ft past the sled, didn't feel too good. I tried the carlisle ultimax on my 04 and it produced way more power than the 166 and lasted a lot longer, but it didn't work on the 07. Just what i've seen on all of our REVs for the past 5 years. We bought 2 2011 summits and they have 600 miles no problems original belt
