there are pros and cons to the two wheel kit. I do run one on my sled currently

Pro - sidehills easier, typically less snow buildup, looks cool

Con - takes more power to spin as the fiberglass rods tend to wrap around the wheels

Ya its just a bling thing IMO. Look at the XP hill climb sleds. They run 4 wheels for less rolling resistance.

pretty sure they use 4 wheels for strength as its a hillclimb sled. not for rolling resistance.

Why does the hill climb need exrta wheel strength over a regular mountain sled? If that was the case why wouldn't the just use better quality wheels?

when i think hillclimb im thinkin beat out jaxon hillclimb kind of deal. where there is a lot of weight on the tail end. maybe not for strength, maybe for better weight distribution along the rear axel. im really just guessing but those reasons sounds better than rolling resistance....IMO

I think that the 4 wheel kit on hill climb sleds is for stability and predictability, as those sleds spend a lot of time with nothing on the snow except the back part of the track, and when they drop into ruts or bounce around, they don't need the track flexing to make the sled pull harder to the downward side (if that makes sense). For people that want to sidehill, an inside 2 wheel kit will give the ability to pull the sled over easier, and maintain that position. Just my 2cents.

still on the fence on this one. I do like the bling factor but if 2 wheel kit is not as good for pounding and jumping , but if the sled becomes more versitile in the trees and side hills, for boondocking i think thats where it's at I should just do it and try it what is the worst that can happen.

Had a 2 Smitty's 2 wheel kit on my 08. Looked really cool but I couldn't feel the difference. I actually cut the center spacer and put the 3rd wheel in for strength. This worked great but when I pulled the axle out after 2 season, I noticed a slight bend to it. The center wheel may have took a bit of a hit.
