There was a time horse theif were hanged in public and justice took place swiftly. Today with all the BS equal rights, gun laws, lawyers and the list goes on. Criminals get away with almost anything and everything and they are living amongs all of us, from the kid next door to your ministers in goverment.

Maybe there will be a time in the near future that Canadians will take their country back from the corrupt politicians and their long armed RCMP ss enforcers.
This country has never had a revelution....a good house cleaning sometimes is the best way to get rid of the dirt.
Unfortunitly they have done a good job of disarming the population and take control. Plus today the majority of the canadian population are a bunch of putts, whozzies and whinners and have no taste for a revolt to make big changes. Hell we are a polite bunch in the world community. Plus, in one hand we have it too good...rich get richer and the poor and working poor pay for our retirement and toys.
The point is, blame the goverment and their BS laws for the corruption in the population.

I will watch for your sleds, sorry to hear.

My uncle had guys breaking into his trucking company multiple times. So after police report after police report he stayed the night in the shop. Lets just say after those guys were inches from death they never stole a thing ever again.

Winter is here and snowmobile thieves have returned to Revelstoke.

The Revelstoke RCMP reported two thefts of vehicles and snowmobiles early Tuesday morning.

First, at about 2:45 a.m., a Ford F-350 pickup truck and Ski-Doo Summit snowmobile were stolen from the 700 block of Eighth Street East.

Three hours later, RCMP received a report that a Dodge truck, snowmobile trailer and two Polaris RMK snowmobiles were stolen from Oscar Street in Southside.
At about 8:30 a.m., the Dodge truck and the trailer were found, but the snowmobiles were not located. The Ford F-350 was found not long after, without the snowmobile.

Staff-Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky said he would not reveal where the trucks were found, saying he hoped that information could be used in the investigation.

"They were recovered in very close proximity to where they were stolen," he added.

He said there was no evidence the thefts were by the same people, but based on the fact the thefts were done in close time and proximity to each other that "it would only make sense this was planned and by the same people."

"We'll be working very diligently to figure out if this was organized crime, what exactly was going on and, as mentioned in the news release, really trying to encourage people to come up with prevention methods," he said.
The RCMP is reminding residents to secure their snowmobiles with a variety of theft deterrents, such as video cameras, chains and locks. "Anything to keep it safe and combat the theft," he said.

Grabinsky said one trailer was well-protected with chains and a locking hitch, but the thieves were still able to make off with the truck, trailer and sleds.

"We're talking people with fairly aggressive means," he said. "I'm not going to hide it from people – they need to combat it with fairly aggressive means as well."

Grabinsky noted that Revelstoke is one of the top spots for snowmobile theft in Canada and he said RCMP would be using the bait sled program at some point this winter to try and tackle the problem.

"We rate success on how we do the next year, and until we start really solving this problem, we're not finding success yet, and we're trying to do that," he said.

The RCMP is asking anyone with information about the thefts to contact the detachment at 250-837-5255 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

WTF are the cops in Revy doing? This has been a problem for years and it just continues. They will be using the bait sled program "at some point this winter". Jesus H it should be in place all winter in that town. Snowmobile tourism is a major driver in that community and the fawkin cops are going to be costing the business owners thousands of dollars in lost revenue if they can't get the theft under control! The reputation of Revy is already tarnished because of all the theft but it can still be saved if they take action.

Well said B North. Maybe there needs to be a concerned effort from the sledding community to put pressure on the Chamber of Commerce in town to direct some criticism to the RCMP. How many sleds need to be stolen before they start there bait program. Very poor wording in that news item by the RCMP spokesperson.

Heres a little tid bit of information, doesn't matter if your trailer has locking hitches etc, Your safety changes or cables are right there, all they have to do hook those up and they can drag the trailer with some control to where ever. That's why when I had my trailer I hade the safety cables on a strong carbiners type things and removed them when I wasn't using the trailer along with all the other associated locks, it would slow them down just a little more so hopefully they moved on.

The cops dont really care. Revy gets tons of snow and the sledders will come regardless. Sad but true.

As mentioned try to make it difficult so they move on to easy targets. But if they really want your gear they will take it.

Hope they had insurance on the sleds.

Bait set ups would have helped this problem long ago but it seems to never happen. I know a few people that would gladly donate for this program if it was just a "funding" problem.

when I was in England a few weeks ago, it was hard to find a street corner that didn't have a camera. It is almost impossible for theft rings in London because you will be on camera.

Maybe Revy should invest in a couple of dozen and try to get these guys on film.

BTW, it has always perplexed me what happens to all these sleds. You can't register them anywhere in Canada and the market for midnight discount parts is not that big. The only think I can think of is people who buy totalled sleds for the sn and "fix" them with these stolen sleds by swapping tunnels.

I'm not sure how a police force of maybe 10, probably 2 of which are on shift at night can be everywhere. It would take 10 minutes for 3 guys to get the truck and trailer moving if they know what they are doing, at that point they look just like any other sledder driving into town. RCMP main job in my mind is to protect people not sleds. They are probably busy dealing with drunken locals/tourists causing grief and wife beaters.

Lotsa talk about bait trucks over the years..... talk the talk walk the walk boys. Are you ready to go to jail for a sled?

As far as cameras, do you want cameras all over your neighborhood? I sure don't.

It does suck to have something ripped off been there, you have to protect yourself. Insure everything to the max. Fact of life these days.

Ever check out the used parts on kijiji.... makes ya think how many are stolen

Would a wheel lock be enough of a deterrent? Thought about buying one cause after enough wobbly pops people sleep pretty sound.

Are you saying they should ignore one lawbreaker for another???
Cause it seems like that is what you are accusing them of only not happy with which ones they ignore.

They have limited resources... How would you like them to be using those resources?? Edit: This is only my opinion,,, take it for what it is. I don't really ever mean to insult anyone here. My opinions are a little out there I know. RevyG I really hope you get your sleds back.

Its too bad that these threads always wind up bashing the cops, just a reminder that the COPS DIDN'T STEAL THE SLEDS! They are only doing what they can in a 12 hr shift, and they simply can't be in every place all the time, checking on people's stuff. If they were stopping every truck with sleds in town and checking registrations, there would be a thread on here about how much they were harrassing sledders. In fact, there have been several of these threads over the years, and there will probably be another one when someone gets a speeding ticket during their first ride of the season this year. I'm happy with them checking me, my paperwork is good, and most others have no issue with this, if everyone registered their sleds it wouldn't be a big issue....Based on the amount of stolen sleds that came out of the BIS a few years ago, all the cops really have to do is set up in the parking lot and check VIN's. If sledders were smart, we'd work with the clubs to have some of those little white GPS transmitter taggy things on our sleds and a reciever at the trail pass shack. As the sled rolled by it would trigger the signal if the tag was reported stolen.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sympathetic to RevyG's situation and it sucks when your stuff is stolen, but let's keep the anger focused on the individuals who are committing these crimes - the thieves. Its always baffled me how someone in the world thinks they have the right to possess something that doesn't belong to them. I think if we started shooting criminals then theft would probably go down. Cameras are a good thing, theft prevention devices are a good thing. Nothing is theft-proof, but all you can hope is that you have enough protection to slow them down long enough for them to get caught (maybe you are lucky enough to "restrain" them before the cops arrive. Theives are creatures of habit, they usually head to areas they know will be vacant and they usually frequent areas they are familiar with.

Keep an eye out for these sleds and hopefully they can be returned to the people they belong to. One question I have is regarding the keys, if the keys are in them then I think the new Poo's have a security feature on them just like Ski Doo's. No key = no start unless you have other plans for the sled.
