96 mxz 583. Trying to troubleshoot the electrical. What does this sound like, don’t want to throw parts at this old sled.

3 nights in a row the sled would run perfect for about 10-15 minutes then die like someone hit the kill switch. Checked for spark first 2 nights after dying and always had spark(not blue strong spark) but just thought maybe wasnt pulling hard enough. Spark was yellow orange and wouldn’t start.

Tonight (3rd time) died after 10 minutes and no spark when I checked right away. Let sit for 10 minutes and then good spark and ran for another 5 minutes and died with no spark at first until I waited and now spark is back.

I hate electrical And wondering where to start
So far:
1. 2 sets of new plugs br9es
2. Trimmed plug wires on both ends.
3. Took apart all connections and sprayed contact cleaner and greased with dielectric grease.

Sled runs strong when running, plugs are nice brown colour.

Coil or stator, both can be temperature sensitive on last days, likely stator.

Coil is cheap.
Stator is 250-350 ish and MPEM is 6-800 depending on year.
I used a working donat sled when I was trouble shooting the kids 700 summit.
Way cheaper than buying as no return on electronics.
Was stator on the Summit.
Previous owner had bought a new MPEM but it did not help, helped me get the sled cheaper.
Buying coil not bad but try find a donor for checking after that.

Ordered coil this morning from royal for $36.99

This sled is a 1996 so dont believe it has MPEM.
Really hate any problem electrical related and hoping its not the stator. Might be a parts sled if I cant get good salvage parts or figure out this problem without a ton of money. Crossing my fingers its a coil.

Worth it to try ebay stator if I need one?

Like I said cdi, it has the transformers inside that send the ground load to coil, it does the work
