So I'm running a tki belt drive 66 bottom tooth 26 top tooth - 2.53 gear ratio - so the top procket is the one coming off the secondary - would I not want to go to a smaller tooth cog up top there to get gearing a bit lower - I'm just thinking like a mountain bike if you put a smaller sprocket on the front pedals and stay big in the back it'll be lower geared - so I'm thinking like a 25 or 24 tooth top sprocket to lower gearing - is that not right?

Yep to go slower in speed you increase your ratio.
66/24=2.75 to 1
66/25=2.64 to 1

You should take into account your belt height in both sheaves. You want to be as close to 1-1 as possible, without running the belt into the bolts in the secondary. Seeing as we are talking about your turbo here, I run 2.4X in mine at 5lbs and i dont think it can get more perfect. Im thinking 2.5x on your 174 should be close to where you want it. That is of course unless your trying to achieve a quicker bottom end?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? There are some real clutch guru's here, and if you give the full story im sure they would be willing to speak up,

I'm trying to gear it down a bit more to fix the bottom end bog issue - I'm not 100% sure I need to yet because of the changes Ive done already with no testing yet - I was also told that 2mm rollers would help too

You have a bog or a big hesitation??? If you hold your finger on the brake and get the turbo spooling will the takeoff be better??

Whats your clutch setup?? Especially your helix.

I wish I knew my clutch setup - TSS put it in then closed their doors - it just got the $150 rebuild kit that's all I know - going to sicamous in a few days to test her out

ok. SO... #1. the etec 800 has a bit of a burble/stumlbe on the bottom end, due to the rave valve system and how it operates is less desirable then the servo motor of todays new sleds. Theres a few ways to get rid of it. # 1 is control the stock injectors to lean it out pre boost. #2 change the engagement rpm to make it engage just a hair about the point the burble is happening. Or u can gear it to the moon, problem with this is will not be running in the CVT's efficiency range.... witch equates to unwanted sheave temps and belt wear etc. I would change it with either the clutching or the fueling.

Ok so clutching it is until i can get a box that can adjust stock injectors- from what I understand there is no box for the xm that can do this

No it doesnt seem like there is. I see dave at redline updated his tuning for the xm turbo kits. maybe call and ask him for his newest tunes? or change your engagement rpm. thats what i did to mine to eliminate the stumble.

I'm gonna have to take my clutch to somebody - I never really took notes where it was bogging(rpm) was always too pissed off that it was happening - I will after Xmas - Dave at redline isn't too keen on helping me because it's a centre mount I think - I've been getting good help from Bryce Kendrick and Dave with the Aurora Fuel Reactor

i have a brand new full DJ turbo clutch kit that could work for you. weather or not it will work, im not sure, but it worked with my boost it and its the same set up used for impulse. you can try it if you like. if it works you can buy it, if it doesnt it can sit on my bench again. go check out his set up..... he has videos of it performing and what not.
