165 Alpha gets weighed

Wet weight, dry weight, its all semantics.
I'm more interested in how much extra weight the sled packs on with snow. I think the alpha will be lighter than the other two.
This make sense. Unfortunately there is another thing not mentioned in this thread though, it is weight distribution from front to back. The Cat was always nose heavy and this may be more noticeable when the skid gets lighter and previous Cat experiences also involved more weight of snow in the skid. ( possibly making it more balanced compared to Alpha) This new Cat would benefit more if that weight was taken from the front instead of rear.

It will be fine, just different and there may be a bit of a learning curve if you are used to something that is lighter in the front and heavier in the rear. I bet lifting the rear out of a stuck is noticeably easier.

I never did understand making a small tank and then carrying fuel on the tunnel.

But having said that.

Stock tank holds 47 liters.
And on deep days I still burn my extra 15 liters on my tunnel.

Small tanks get to sit an watch men burn fuel.

So they can sell you a $19000 sled then you get to spend $300 more for a gas can so you can ride all day. Money in there pockets

That's not what I heard from a few guys who paid 3500$ for a weekend of stucks and watching him dangle lol... why would you ride stock if you had them in the garage? and which sled is "that sled"? looks like a bunch of turbo builds for sale with tiny aluminum gas tanks...

I guess you need to go ride with him.

Wouldn't do it, too far, too much money and I'm a doo guy. I'd spend that cash to ride with Carl, Rene or Rasmussen though. I have Met Chris a few times, great guy to talk with.

I was just talking with rene’s Neighbors this weekend while I was out setting up my fifth wheel for winter camp and was told that he hasn’t been out much lately due to health issues. I realized that I hadn’t seen him out at all last year either once it was mentioned. Anyone know if there is any truth to the story?


Wouldn't do it, too far, too much money and I'm a doo guy. I'd spend that cash to ride with Carl, Rene or Rasmussen though. I have Met Chris a few times, great guy to talk with.

he did over 200 days last year. Was just at the lodge not long ago he is doing well

For comparison sake my 2016 rmk 155 2.6 (standard shocks, factory belt drive) with spare belt, full gas and oil, and with aftermarket can (-17lbs, didn't even use it because loud cans are lame as ****) weighed in at 496lbs so it would have been 513lbs fully wet with the stock can. The polaris fuel tank is larger than cat by about 4-5L as well.

467lbs is quite respectable. I'll be watching how the alpha skid holds up this season.

Johnny there is a big difference between you watching the Alpha and you riding the Alpha. You can kill anything.

I see there are a few pictures within this thread of more than the Alpha. Thought this might interest a few people. Had a date night between me and a few Pilsners in the shop and got bored so started scaling. Picture 1 is total sled weight...this is a 18 Summit 154 x 3.0 with SHOT, minimal gas, as it comes off the showroom floor, but otherwise, ready to ride

Tha side to side balance is impressive. Maybe both a bit heavy but nice and even. Stock can?

Soooooo is my math all f'd up or are the Doo 154 and the Cat 165 within .6 of a pound????
