16 clutches

Anyone have any input on the logic of replacing both primary and secondary on a 14 with 16 clutches ? Worth it ?

Yup definitely worth it. At least the secondary. Runs way cooler

I had a 14 and never had any belt issues that being said i had low milage when i sold the sled. My 16 does run considerbly cooler, you can put your hand on the clutch after a hard work out and its slightly warm to the touch. If my primary was due for replacement sure i would upgrade but just to swap it out i dont think so. You need to replace the jackshaft also if changing the secondary and on the 14 you will need to make changes to the chain case as well.

I don't think I would bother until I had to replace them for some other reason. Mine seems to come pretty hard, but it never seems to get that hot. I'd rather spend the money on the narrower front end.

Lots of torsional kits now showing good results in performance and temp drops with the original secondaries. Cheaper to try first.

Thanks for the replys, haven't really had belt issues with the original 14 clutches, and i'm not a big fan of Cat clutches. But they're at 2500 ish k's, no problems yet , so its time to either upgrade, change , rebuild or something, my opinion, thats a life span expectation for these things. Lots of negative opinions about rebuilt clutches so i think i'm just gonna replace, with either original new or the 16 team ones.

If you were going to replace them rather than rebuild.....I would spend the extra couple hundred (assuming its only a couple or three hundred more to do it..??) and upgrade to the team clutch design....better resale later

In all seriousness I wouldn't do them until they wear out, but then I would at least check the price on the new ones. But in saying that I haven't changed a belt in 2200km on my 14, so I think of got the clutching figured.
