I gotta say all this talk is very interesting. A lot of very good points made for sure. I'm curious to see which way I go in the end too lol. I know which way I'm leaning on brand and track length but who knows what can happen. Has been very helpful so thanks for everyone's input. :D

Now maybe I should start a thread on trucks...hahahaha. Diesel vs gas. Dodge vs chev...lmao.

Gallery: Ford Atlas preludes to new Ford F-150

I'd go with that one, pure awesomeness, I'll just need to wait a while to get the production version of it.

Go for the 163. Jumps great, wheelies great, looks great. You don't have to say I should of bought the longer one. Best of all you'll rarely get stuck, outclimb and outlast your buddies.

Doubt the payload can handle a sled deck and two sleds. Plus fords are the easiest trucks to steal.
No, the payload won't handle a deck with two sleds, it's only a half ton, but I'm hoping they follow suit with the super duty. I had to change my pants after seeing that gallery.
I'd go Dodge Diesel on the HD side

where was this thread when I asked what length to buy. lol

I love my 146 and have never been left behind, even in the deep days, but I ride the piss out of her and have several videos where im to the bars for close to a minute.... gotta love the etec. My next sled will be a 163, because all my buddies are getting turbos and Im the only one that's rides a 146. Im sure gonna miss my track speed and the challenge of everyday pow, instead of needing deeeeeeep days to feel the rush and panic of a close call with stuck.

163 does everything a 155 can and more. I dont believe a 155 would make you a better rider, it justs limits the possibilities that are present with a longer tracked sled. Plus you cant feel a big difference in handling, i cant anyway.
Contrary to rumour you can drop and jump the 163's too, if ur worried about bending rails throw the extra cross brace in that the assaults have.

Long story short. 163. Period.

Agreed. That's why I bought a freeride. Not cause I'm a super star airing the biggest hits in the world. But because I jump around home as well. If all my riding was alpine I would go 160's length for sure.

For my style of riding, tight boondocking with little time to make decisions the 163 does most things better.it does have one disadvantage for me is tight back and forth surfing.the 155 is much easier to pull tight er lines

Little easier to wheelie out of a failed attempt.....

My only input into this is: If you are worried about bending 163 rails from jumps and drops, then a number of guys on this forum should be worried about bending rails on just an average day of mountain riding. There are a few boys here that ride 163's that are I am sure when geared up almost double your weight.

Last year geared up I was ~240-250lbs, I mangled the rear torsion springs and floating drop bracket things on my 162 M7, but the rails are fine. I am sure it would have been the same scenario on a 153, or even a 144.

I rented a 155 polaris for a day liked it except for the trenching was told when u upgrade tracks not as bad ended up with a xm 154 was tossing the idea of going with 163 decided on 154 as i find its an all round better and funner sled ride with guys that have 163's and the only time i wish i had one is the odd time in early season when busting trail into a couple of areas as its usually my brother and i doing all the work as the others eat doughnuts and wait for us to get back. One of the fuys has a 12 800 156 3" doo that he has turboed thing works awesome in the teees once he figured out he actually has to use his thumb for throttle control otherwise if he holds it wide open he has a tendency to come over backwards.

That's not what I am worried about. It's the maneuverability. For what I want to get into, and what I'm looking at for riding I think 155 is better suited to me. But hey you never know. I've had my rubber arm twisted into riding Sunday and will get on a 163 XM for a bit so I'll get to see how nimble she is. :)
