I'm wondering if I should be looking for a 19t top gear to run with the 44 bottom or maybe a 20t? Also, couldnt I go with a larger bottom gear instead or will that not fit in the chaincase? Next what clutch work will I have to do after this is complete. The sled is a 96" summit
Thanks

Hey Friday.... Give Us More Info.... Is It A 670?? What Is The Stock Gearing And What All Is Done To The Sled Already(eg, Pipes? Ported? Estimated Hp??)?. Have You Done Any Clutching To It Already? This Could Help Getting A Baseline Starting Point As To Where To Start From.

Sorry, stock sled is a 670, ive gutted the can, no clutch work yet, 8t i/o drivers with a 151x2" track. Stock gearing was 23/44.
Im willing to shave the top end for more torque but how much track speed will a guy lose with this mod. I understand I cant expect great things, but id like to make the best of it and down the rode look for an 800 twin to drop in but for now Ill try too make this run good. Also, would UFO's be useful and can someone better explain the to me and where to find them.
thanks guys

Hey Friday.... My '99 Summit 670x I Did Basically What You Did For A Start.... Because You've Gone With The 8 Tooth Drive, You Have Dropped Roughly 10% In Drivetrain Ratio. If You Drop Your Gear To 21/44 You Will Have Gained Your 10% Plus A Shade For Needing To Drive The Longer Track... If You Put External Drivers, Be Sure To Run You Track Much Looser Than Stock. Just My 2 Cents

So, maybe the 20 tooth would be ideal. Have you done any work on your skid? im looking to go to a gas shock. Shpuld i be concerned with the rear front spring fatiqueing? right now my oil shocks feel like they move too easy no real dampening affect?

He Friday
You must have the track in when i ran that track with 8 tooth drivers 19 top 43 bottom but with a p85 and cat secondary looooong beeeelt life. As far as the ufo's stay far away. I still have black fingers trying to get them to work but I will give you them and good luck comes with tool box full of jets, tubes, pilot jets it becomes very tempromental to tune. But i could get you pretty close to the set up. You gutted your muffler That might cause you grief.

AN AFTERMARKET CAN STILL HAS PORTS AND PACKING AND DOES STILL CAUSE SOME BACKPRESSURE - SOMETHING THAT THE 670 REALLY LIKES.... ESPECIALLY THE 670X.

But, i can see daylight through mine...there's nothing to it really. maybe just enough?

YUP, LOOK AT THE SIDES OF THE INSIDE, AND YOU WILL SEE ALL THE TINY PORTS. BETWEEN THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAN AND THE INNER PORT SCREEN, THERE IS A PACKING, AND IT CAN BE FIBREGLASS OR A STEEL WOOL LIKE MATERIAL....... ON CARS WITH THE OLD AFTERMARKET BOTTLE STYLE MUFFLERS, SOME WERE FIBREGLASS FILLED AND THEY WOULD EVENTUALLY BURN OUT THE FIBREGLASS AND THEN MAKE A GREAT SOUND -- THAT IS WHERE THE NAME "GLASSPACK" MUFFLER CAME FROM.
