Anyone have one of these? Thinking about buying one. Only difference between the two is the size of the cable from what I can tell. Good price on them. I won't buy another warn winch. Usually go with a super winch for the smaller utv ones but they are about an extra 4-600 bucks.

I've got a 12k mounted on a receiver plate. We use it for pulling dead Fords and our scissor lifts up on to our trailers. The odd time we'll toss it in a truck if were heading somewhere questionable, but thus far we have not used it for self recovery.

They're a decent winch. It's worked well for us. I've pulled dead F550 bucket trucks @ 14,000lbs up on to a deckover with ease (with a pulley). Not a whole lot of difference from the warn I had in my power wagon in terms of quality.

The warn 8274 winch is still the fastest spooling winch on the market, all gear driven. I’ve had one for 40 yrs on same truck, only had to replace selenoid. Only issue is having room to mount them and they are pricey now.

I have a 8274 on the Jeep. It belongs on my Jeep. Way too small for my one ton. Great winch and the best warn ever made. Owned a bunch of them.

Have mine mounted on a 1 ton gm, has pulled me out on numerous occasions buried to the doors. When in doubt carry a snatch block
If I have to use it chances are it will be more then my pickup. Usually truck and trailer. I would rather have a 15 or 17,000 lb winch and not worry about it. It is a great winch but not what I need in this case.

Never a bad idea to oversize, just not often tho a guy needs 17,000 pulling force. Usually end up breaking things then. Too bad they don’t make it in 12,000 lbs

Wouldn't fit in my new bumper anyways. Crazy how much the prices have gone up on them since I bought my last new one. 8274-50 I bought back in about 1999-2000ish cost me $1400. Add about another $1000 now. I find Warn has priced themselves out of the game. No need to spend that kind of cash as you don't gain anything. The only winch warn has that is worth buying is the upright IMO.

No doubt been on the truck since 1978, not sure what dad paid for it then but definitely wasn’t $2,300 as they are worth now.

I know you said you don't want a Warn, but if anyone is looking for a deal on one. I have a M12000 that Ive had for 10 years,
but has only been used a few times.

I'd sell it for 800$ if someone wants it, because I don't need it. Don't need to sell it either, just throwing it out there to see if there is any interest .
