want to add a 12v power plug on my T3, everything says you cant without having a battery installed?

as long as the machine is running you should be able to find 12v. Maybe research "heated visor plug" and follow those instructions.

There is a 12V source that can be wired into a power point inside the glove box. If you pull the indicator support (plastic piece that holds the gauge and comprises the frame for the glovebox lid) you will see a block connector with a red and black wire. These wires supply 12V when the engine is running.

Just putting mine in today, had one on my 13. Need a filter on it to keep the Dess from screwing up. Part # 860200632, 515178088. Great for keeping your cell phone and camera charged up.

Yes essentially the end result is the same 5 V usb. The one that you linked to has a boost buck converter which will use more current to still produce 5 V should the voltage ever drop below 5 V which would never happen because your engine wouldn't be running any more below about 11V (I'm guessing).

Yours does have 2 outputs but mine is a pretty panel mount that wouldn't be flapping in the wind.

Pretty much all I'm trying to say is that you don't need to order this specialized one off ebay. You can likely get the job done with something from Canadian Tire or your local electronics supply store.
