12 f350 6.2

[FONT=&quot][FONT=&quot]Currently looking at a 12 f350 in Vanderhoof, it’s a cc short box with a cloth interior. Details from the fb add are below, it has 3.73 gears. He’s asking 25k, he said he used the truck to pull a 30ft gooseneck

I want a diesel but I def do not need one lol, besides the maint cost and potential repairs, short commute etc ive decided a one tone gasser is the next best thing. I’d like to get a deck and use it as a sled hauler as well as a dd.

I live 5k from work, there’s a gym at my office as well so I don’t do too much driving. I ride mostly mcbride it’s about 240k from my house one way. My question being, how bad are these 6.2s on fuel? I don’t drive a whole lot but I do Have a bad habit of driving a bit above posted lol. Majority of my driving is on weekends for sledding and in summer will be for quadding/hunting

From what I’ve read the 6.2s are fairly reliable with just regular oil changes, I’d most likely be doing exhaust and intake but that’s about it.

Most people I've talked to get about 16-18 L/100km on the highway with the 6.2.

But I think $25k is pretty steep for an 8 year old gas one ton with cloth interior and 143k. Guy at work just picked up a similar truck but a 13 and fully loaded lariat for $25k with similar kilometers.

If it were me I'd wait, there are sure to be some hurtin' people looking to get rid of trucks for cheap in the coming months, particularly here in Alberta.

That’s not very good fuel mileage at all, what kind of mileage do you see with your 6.7?

Good point I will pass on this one, price is def higher then similiar kiji bc rigs.
Good thing is i am in no rush at all, I have tossed around the idea of getting something from AB but it seems the out of province transfer would be a pain.


Perhaps I’ll wait till next year and let the truck fund grow so I can get a diesel lol

I have a '13 loaded Lariat club cab (the suicide doors) 4x4 with an 8' box. I have posted pictures on here on other threads. There are 175,000km on it. Gas mileage is interesting; in the Elk Valley (down by Fernie), I would routinely get in around 18l/100km driving the speed limit and occasionally up to 110kph. We have a 26' holiday trailer with one pull out (6800kg empty) and being honest, I have seen mileage from 26-46 l/100km depending on terrain and wind conditions. When I moved from the Elk Valley to Salmon Arm, the average was 32l/100km. So pulling, the gas mileage isn't good. With 2 sleds and gear, we would be generally somewhere between 20-24l/100km depending on weather/road conditions.

Good motors and our truck has been great. Tires, oil, and gas is all.

I wouldn’t pay over $20k for that truck

A 2 yr old gas job 6.2l 3/4 ton can be had for $35-$37k in Alberta. As mentioned these are essentially all fleet returns at the dealerships, so expect not perfect condition.

flat tracking not fighting any wind I get around 16l/100km with my truck. '18 F 350 CCLB, 6.2 with 4.30 rear end. If you're looking for mileage, a one ton 4x4 probably isn't the best choice. As far as the diesels go, any gains in mileage is wiped out by the increased fuel costs. The only advantage to the diesel is mileage when towing. For the short trips the OP was talking about, a diesel is not the way to go.

I'm lifted on 37's so my mileage isn't what stock is, but 15 L/100km is as good as I can get on the highway, most often though I'm in the 16-17 range, and with 2 sleds on the deck 19-20. Pulling my 33ft fifth wheel I can get 23 if I run at 100km/hr. Weight doesn't matter to this truck, wind resistance does though, I actually get slightly better mileage with my jet boat behind the fifth wheel I think because it reduces wind resistance.

Getting those rigs into BC is a pain though isn’t it?

ideally I’d go with a F-150, however I’d like to get a deck so I’m forced to go either f250/350

My 2015 F350 CCLB 4X4 with 6.2 gets 16 or 17 L per 100kms empty. Towing it does 21 L 100 kms with the boat, 24 L 100 kms towing the 4 place sled trailer.

Mines a 3.55. If I was stock height and tires I think a 3.31 might gain a bit of fuel economy on the highway running empty, but towing might suck. Mine already hunts a little between 5th and 6th at 100km/hr towing the fifth wheel, and at 110km/hr it just holds 6th.

I see, I don’t forsee myself really towing anything, perhaps a 2place open trailer but that’s about it.

I’m thinking 3.55 and stock tires would be key for my needs

I'm not sure if you can get 3.55 in a gasser ford like that. I think they offered 3.73 or 4.3.

don't know why they would make a super with a 355 when i ordered mine it only had 2 options 373 or 410 took both trucks for a test drive the highway rpms were only 3-4 hundred different so went with the 373

Yes, my '13 only had the two options of 373 or 410 but there was only one truck remaining in western Canada (Prince George) with what I wanted and it had 373's. Driving the Coq pulling the trailer the best I ever did from the lower mainland to Kamloops and vice versa was 32l/100lm.

SRW Diesel's come in 3.31 or 3.55. Gasser's come in 3.73 or 4.10.

That’s not totally accurate depending on year. From 2011 up when they dropped the v10 from the 250’s and 350’s and went to the 6.2 the rear ends in the gassers were 3.73 and 4.3. If you have an F550 with a V10 you might still be able to get a 4.10 but not in anything lighter duty.

My 6.2 f250 tows my 5th wheel and boat behind it at around 115/120 is where it likes to ride in 6th gear, love this truck it’s been good, not sure what the rear end is,
