Anybody know where the best place is to buy a 1000 gallon propane tank? Not interested in renting one. Also does anyone know what the regs are for recertification on a used tank? Thanks

Not familiar with Alberta regulations, but in BC all propane tank owners are required to hold an annual operating permit under the safety standards act, and are responsible for all the regulations that apply to the tank under that act. There are very few homeowner owned tanks around in BC any more because of this. My sister just had to abandon hers and finally rent the propane suppliers tank last year after 15 years owning her own.

Probably not all that helpful to you in Alberta, but here's the BC wording. No idea if Alberta is similar.

Thanks. I don’t think things are that onerous for Alberta yet. I know that there’s been some recent changes regarding overpressure valves but I’m not sure what they were. Hard to find answers.

I think the supplier's/delivery people are the enforcement

Propane rocks. About $200/year for my drier and hot water tank. House is on heated floor heat. No delivery charge, no bs nickel and dime natural gas charges. No meter reading.
Propane for ever!

I read the link but a 400lb tank isn't exactly portable and from reading link should have needed a permit. I had it certified and filled and delivered back no questions asked. The only thing I had trouble with was the hose. No one would sell me a hose to hook tank to rv so I bought a tiger torch and used the hose from it.

it is my goal in life to overcome circumstances like this.. a moth to a flame can't do it they say.. watch me! sometimes they are right..
