09 ptec 800 cases

Tonight I pulled my 09 800 apart. Rod ended up taking out part of the lower case. My question...do i look for a lower case off a 09?? Do I need both upper and lower matched sets or can i use 08 cases or case?. Will my new 09 crank fit into 08 cases? Thanks

Best to use a matching set. 2009 and up is what you’ll need. If you need a set let me know. I have one set left.

Case are machined & line bored @ manufacturing, you cannot mix half's. Common lower rod bearing failure, then the rod pounds on the lower case half & breaks it.

Mots in Edmonton will repair minor damage, maybe contact them with some photo's & see what they think.

The difference in years is the length of the mag snoot end. Thicker stator in the latter years, earlier failures of the stators because of increasing electrical load.
