So we finally got enough snow to take out the sled i bought in the summer ( from the states ) its a 2009 assault with 600 miles on it. I fired it up in the drive way and let it warm up for 10mins. took off into a stubble field and was just playing around for about 20mins when the sled died? It took about 10 pulls to get it going with the throttle held on. got going again and it was running fine for 5 mins then it starting bogging again? no power what so ever. I limped it home and now wondering where to start trouble shooting? It had fresh fuel, oil etc etc.

Never owned a sled before so any info would be greatly appriciated.

Check the throttle body boots for cracks or loose hose clamps. When the sled is cold the leak could be sealed once warmed up the softening and expansion opens it up. Might not be it, but its worth a quick check.

Im thinking voltage regulator. After checking things out at home i fired it up in the garage. Its runs but sounds real rough and the display was flashing on and off.

Well i took the sled to a buddies shop today and the top end is blown. ( hopefully only the top end ) All the Polaris updates were done ( dual rings ) etc etc. What can i do to avoid this in the future? Guess i should have taken it straight to a dealer and had the flashes done or checked out! Oh well live and learn.

Brought in from the states...good luck getting any warranty.
ALL dealers I know are real bitter about US machines coming north.
Even though the same machine is THOUSANDS less there. Guess they have to protect their cash flow.
Having said that, once you do the rebuild, did you really save any money?????

I will probably be par with what i would have had to pay here. So it wasn't worth it on this one. I have bought a few quads from the same place and never had an issue and saved thousands. I will never buy another sled from the states thats for sure.... probably no more quads either.

ya your warranty is no good up here. as soon as the dealer puts in the warranty claim with your vin number and polaris runs it and finds that it is from the states they will deny it. Trust me I found out the hard way.
