087 Belt

I’m on my 3rd Proclimb and have always ran the 084 belts. I need to buy a new one for my ‘16 M8000 before the snow flies and my dealer recommended the 087 but my parts girl says not to use it. Has anybody tried it yet? Or maybe I should just go with the 083?

Not to make an argument but i have never gotten the mentality that taking a cheaper lesser item 5-6 mountain ranges back to save 100 dollars is worth it. you are already 10k for a sled another 1.5-4k for gear 70k for truck and trailer and in the end the item that makes your sled go people cheap out on. its like running 87 octane yeah the sled will run save a few bucks but just toying with fate.

Exactly my thinking on it, you have a belt that’s proven and gives peace of mind but penny pinch to save $100. Then you shred it on day 1 of a mountain trip now your down to just the spare and shred that on day 3, pretty soon that $100 saved is $1200 lost due to chopper ride out of a place that’s a no tow zone or even worse you have to get towed by a buddy and will never hear the end of it lol

If you don’t mind performance loss, use the 087. And there will be significant power loss. I used an 087 on 1 trip last season to break in my new clutch set up. Took it off and threw in the garbage after that Oct trip with Joholio.

I dabbled in different belts 2 seasons ago, I didn’t shred any, but even thought I was getting good performance out of the cheaper Dayco belt, till a deep day at above 7000. Brutal.

Been back to stock 84. In the end, no camparison. Dayco, 087, 083, Ultimax. For my fat ass on my lightly modded motor, 84 is the only belt for good deep snow at elevation performance.

All that goofing around just to change to 18 primary with new cat belt
