replacing the diff even after warranty is over?

The 08"s had a problem with the front diff. The weld on the pin that holds the spider gears was chicken ch!t. A lot of them let go and the pin slid out and destroyed the diff. AC IS replacing the diffs but only when they let go and will not pay for labor. Your best option is to remove the diff and have the pin rewelded before it let's go. On the arcticchat site there is probably a hundred documented cases

Yes even after warranty!! Ac should have issued a recall cause you don't want that pin letting go at 80k. This is their way of fixing the problem. Not all of them let go but to be safe it doesn't take much to pull it apart for piece of mind. This is a pic of the shitty welds as you can see a 4 year old could have done a better job.

I was in at the local AC dealer to ask about this issue......they have not heard anything about this what so ever.....they had a couple front diffs let loose and one was 6 months over its warranty......the guy who owned it was a good customer with the dealer.....AC would not warranty it.... so to make the good customer happy they sold them a diff for cost.....just to make him happy.......The AC dealer wants me to bring in a picture of this pin because we looked every where in the parts list for this pin......it must be all one......the crown carrier and this pin! well it makes sence because it is welded lol......does anyone know for sure about this issue......will artic cat cover it off warranty? any info would be great? I have a funny feeling I'm going to be stripping it down and welding it up! is this thing regular steel?

oh and what does this pin do? I thought it was for the spider gears???? looking at the parts list at the dealer there is no spider gears listed? WTF?

Sounds like you got and awesome deal, but rzrgade is right. Cats are harder to sell. The Can-am, Polaris and KTM shop in brooks won't even take them on trade because he has way too hard of time getting rid of then

Go to arcticchat.com or highlifter there are lots. Arcticchat in the pinned section has a thread in the pinned section with ac phone numbers and tons of documented cases. Pm me your email and I will give you a couple of phone numbers of guys that have had them replaced out of warranty. Like I said ac will only cover them WHEN they break and yes out of warranty. Sorry but your dealer is not fighting very hard for you nor is he up to date on cat issues. If your dealer has replaced a couple already he wouldn't need a parts fiche to tell you it has spider gears!!!! I posted a pic of the diff for you and it clearly shows the welded pin that holds the spider gears!! The spider gears are part of the carrier housing held in by the welded pin that is why they are not listed seperately Obviously a new dealer might be in order

I think I should just let the dealer read this!

just have to watch for that guy that writes the $2000 ticket for playing anywhere near water or even thinking about mud!

a friend got a ticket for pulling out an abandoned truck out of a mud hole because he thought it was not eco frendly to have it in a swamp.......the forest ranger dude video the whole thing and said here is your ticket for putting your tires 6 inches into the mud!....that takes the fun out of going into the back country!

for sure. Should be a blast. We've done hunters lots. Owls side should be a hoot.

few years ago someone was up owls head chewin (and this word does not describe it as that bad) the hell out of the swamps up there! made a hell of a mess...........quite a few people pissed over that one!

postil was a disaster waiting to happen. you cant have 1000 plus ppl having a free for all at a mud hole on the mtn. i remember when you couldnt drive around that mud pit. now its beat like a hwy.
