'05 superduty auto 4x4

Had my 4x4 act up in this last snowfall on the weekend. Used it one day, then the next wouldn't work. Manual hubs still work fine so not to worried if in a pinch. Anyways, the entire vehicle was covered in a serious coat of ice/slush, not sure if maybe some moisture got into the vacuum lines and froze, plugged off? I know if there is issues with the vac system, it will switch the dash vents to defrost when the auto 4x4 switch is set from 2x4 to 4x4.. mine did just that. Just wondering if anyone has had the same issue and what they found, or where they found the issue? Can hear the vac pump cycle on start-up.. thanks for any insight on it..

It can be the seals in the axels. Mine did the same thing. Had them replaced and it did it again. I just use the manuals now

Very common, put her in the shop dry it out then check for vacuum leaks if problem persists.

all of above.... Also manual locking hubs do break internally and come apart.... Double check manual operation. If thawing out system doesn't work, then could be the front axle hub vacuum seals, possible split/leaking line, compressor not working properly, relay not working properly etc etc etc

Thanks for the replies. Will have to get it thawed out and see what it does, after a double check of the manual hubs first..
