Thought I would post this here also to get more views. --
Was out at Cataract today and everything was fine until I started climbing up the trails. At lower speeds it overheats and blows it out the overflow. All the hoses seem hot and the running boards too so I'm sure it's circulating OK. Does anyone have any ideas about this?? I was thinking maybe head gasket or water pump. TIA.

Do they have a thermostat on them, how was the snow, maybe it needs deeper snow.
There was plenty snow. When I got off the machine I sank down at least a foot. When my speed was up and plenty of air going through it was just fine if I kept it under 60 mph. 40-50 mph was just perfect to keep it cool on the flats.

It was warm yesterday. Had problems getting my doo going after stopping for a snack so it could have been just that. Too warm. What track do you have? Scratchers? I put mine down after having the issue and it seemed to be fine after that.

I would start with the thermostat, then i would check the o rings on the head. If you had the head off before then start there. probably a pinched o ring

It was warm but we had lots of snow around the tracks. The thermostat is not the problem as everything was circulating just fine. The running boards and cooler were quite hot. The problem I think is exhaust leak in the coolant system. I took it apart today after bleeding all the air out and topping it up and it still overheated after a while and had too much pressure in it. I am going to replace all the O rings and see if that works. Thanks for the info.

when you are running fast there could be enough pressure to open the thermostat to circulate the coolant. but as soon as you start going slow it could close and cause it to overheat.

I took it out today after only idling in the garage (15 mins.) and it was wide open and slowly closed as it cooled off.

I would bet on a head gasket if it is pushing coolant out
heat opens the thermostat not pressure
also if the thermostat has been overheated it may not be working properly

if you have the cap off the reservoir and pull on the rope and it blows out the top then is more than likely your head gasket
also if it was overheated a bit your head could be warped now so you might want to check it as well

when you fix it be sure and put in a new thermostat or test the old one
