Ski doo spring spacers! Finally got my prototypes our on the snow.

Well guys I finally got them made, took a while to source the rite material and get the machining done. I have a few more modifications to make to them to make the! Better. There was a forum for a bunch of guys that also were looking for these spacers, if there is enough interest I may start making them to sell. So we'll see how it goes. Let me know what you guys think.

They deff make a huge difference I'm 250 without gear and I can ride the stock springs on setting 3 now and it is perfect takes the sag issue rite out of the suspension and still operates just like stock. I tried the HD springs from ski doo but unfortunately they make the skid feel sluggish because of how stiff they are. These spacers make the spring rate completely linear, I machined them to fit snug on the shaft so a retaining ring is not needed but will be supplied with the kit for piece of mind.

They work great ~ made few sets few years ago out of UHMW plastic material ! Bought ten foot roll ! Have any idea what u would want for a set !?

Yea for the kit with two spacers and two retaining rings with set screws I am thinking 75 can. What do you guys think? Fair?

ordered these from a company and sure seem to straighten things out. Just make sure you have a gap between the spacers and the spring, thinking 1/8-1/4", otherwise you may cause damage when the spring constricts.
Let me know how much you want, I still have 2 other sleds to do.

Thanks for pointing that out. Currently the prototypes I have now actually have the problem.. The first set I ran actually had some binding going on when o first installed them. The second prototype I made I took a couple thou off to correct it. The last revision I am currently going through will completely eliminate the problem and still allow for the maximum amount of centering possible without any issues. The hygear set also retains the factory plastic sleeve on the shaft. I have eliminated that sleeve as it is not needed once the spacer is on, and I have machined it to be a nice tight fit. It does take some effort to get on the shaft but once on ,there is no need to worry about it moving and I will also include a retaining ring for peace of mind.

I will be asking $75 Canadian for the kit

a friend of mine bought some years ago, he's a big boy....after repeated cycles they kept trying to force their way out. the springs carved grooves in them like threads and spun them out from inside the coils.

I would think Delrin or uhmw would work. We use a lot of it at work and it is very stable to shock loads

The material used it the same material used I high speed rotational mechanical seals and thrust collars used in compressors and pumps

My mistake? I was under the impression that the hygear ones are supposed to sleep over the plastic sleeve. At least the ones I personally seen anyways. Either way.

The new revision went into the machine shop today I will post a picture to show you guys when they come back.

I also received the retaining collars today here's what they look like they will sit on the outside of the shaft. They are there for peace of mind, they won't be needed as they are machined tight enough to fit the shaft without any movement. Keep in mind that there will be some resistance when putting the the spacer on the shaft. This is done to ensure that there will be no shock movement on the spacer itself.

As you can see the retaining collar has a set screw in it to ensure no movement axially.

Hygear makes them and I have a set on my 2012 summit. They are tapered so they don't ride out of the spring. They were about $50. They work awesome and let you utilize more of the spring. You can actually turn settings down. The tolerance they recommend is 1/4 inch. What they don't make is a spacer for the heavier skidoo spring which I had purchased to try. I would be very interested in those. Cheers.

Yes that's correct hygear makes them, I tried to get a set but they are asking 80 dollars American for shipping on top of the American product price... So here I am trying to offer them to the Canadian market.
As for the heavy springs I have that in the works as well. But that being said I think it's going to make things way to stiff.

hey to all that are interested, I got my final revision prototypes back this morning. I will be putting them on the T3 and beating the crap out of them this weekend. If everything performs well, I will start production of the sets next week for purchase. I originally stated the price for the kit would be 75 Canadian, BUT unfortunately due to the amazing state our economy and the rising cost of material I need to charge 85 Canadian for the kits. Not a huge jump but enough for me to keep producing them for everyone with the profits made.
