Just wondering how you guys were doing this back in the day when there was no kits, swapping out the rear idlers for larger ones, specifically which pieces were preferred? I have a set of yammi steel idlers, was there any "special" parts used, or were the first ones just bolted directly in? The...
Hi guys, we are currently searching for a good service manual for the 503 Rotax, before 1990, and which covers the CDI, Nippon Denso, not the ducati CDI.. any help is greatly appreciated.... And man we have already searched like fools...LOL...J&J
Is it a piston port engine, or reeds? Also the "presto lite" CDI boxes were extremely trouble some, and hard to find (at least back in the early to mid 90's, before the net...LOL) so be gentle with yours, and have fun, sounds like a fun project....
You might want to check the "cam" on the crank that actuates the points, i currently have a 503 with the same issues and the lobes is wore approx .020" which buggered the timing making it a bear to start.... best option after this is to convert to CDI....
both those sleds should make for good fun rides.. I have been watching for a 485 yami for a long time, i love the simplicity and reliability of a properly tuned fanner....
Like the title says; We are always fabricating, and making things out of our shop here, and I am a lifer sledder with the "sickness", so always something to share...;)... Here are a couple of pics of some previous projects, and a few of our latest ones.... first pic is a before and after of a...
The citations Pound for pound were a damn fine sled, nimble, and reliable... EDIT: in fact the citations did have a chaincase, not direct drive.......sorry...
That sled is worth some serious cheddar, i think there where only like 700 Interceptors ever rolled off the line, over on the kawi sled site they actually have a Registry for them.. The intruder is a gem also, i always wanted one; it was the direction that sno jet would have went if kawi had not...
On a side note, I would LOVE to find a set of those custom trailing arms on the sleds in your pics, either new, or good used...
Are they still being manufactured by the company? I would nee them for xtra10 specs...:beer:... You have a super nice collection of wedges, I always loved them...
LOL... its built out of a pile of parts, but turned out cool.. made my own shorty seat for it, an * 30 degree riser, bar ends, and open running boards to do away with the snow collecting wedge boards... maybe got $300. bux in the entire build... no vids yet, but if its alright i can post a pic...
if its a fanner you could fit a 1.5" easy,(a 2" goes in if you remove the bottoming bars in the top of tunnel) with a liguid i am not sure a 1.5" will clear the front exchanger with out the smaller driver like papa mentioned...
EDIT: you mentioned the cooler, so yeah the 1.5" will be close...
Yup, thats about what the market out here is paying, although with the 2" of rain, and 10+C degree day we had today, the market is going to dip slightly...LOL...
Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays to all my fellow sled heads, hopefully we can get our country all ironed out sometime in the new years and things rolling again...:canada::canada:
