A childhood friend of my wife had his sled rollover and rip apart his leg. Countless surgeries (10+) many years of suffering, lost jobs and he'll never be the same again....
Weird, I found the biggest issue with 90% of the mountain sleds is the pilot. All the new sleds will go way more places than they should and are more than capable in the mountains, you just need the right people at the controls.
It's kind of funny when you are riding a stock sled and the turbo...
I have the Rino 530HCX and I love it. I adjusted backlighting and other settings and I easily get 4 solid days of use before having to recharge. I also have a PTT lapel microphone that I use so that I can store the radio in my pack and it won't interfere with my beacon. Some of my buddies have...
Frisby and another, less talked about zone ;)
Frisby is my favorite early season zone, but there are definately a lot of great zones around Revy if people are willing to do a little exploring. I think there was around 100 people up Frisby on Saturday, and there was 5 vehicles total at the other...
I'm looking to pickup a fiberglass clamshell trailer, like the picture, seems they are tough to come by, anyone have any idea who sells them in the Calgary region. A few phone calls and I've come up empty handed, so thought I would try here.
I know Triton makes a 2 place aluminum clamshell...
see above, read the avalanche forecasts and support the CAC is the best thing that we can do. The more support the CAC has, the more it will grow and the higher quality forecasts that we will receive from them. At the end of the day though, the forecasts are a guideline and you need to educate...
I'm not sold on the 4 degrees of rotation on the rear suspension concept, but I think the idea of the folding side of the track has potential. I would worry about the folding track on steep sidehills though. With firmer snow I'm thinking that the sled wouldn't hold it's line as well (edge of...
Grooming is great because it tends to concentrate the masses, it seems like if there is no grooming and no cabin, then a lot of people are not interested, which a leaves a lot of great riding areas off of the radar.
I love how ski doo's game changer is just trying to catch up with the handling ability the other brands have had for years. As an added bonus I'm sure they'll include a Ski doo jacket when you snowcheck you new $15000 tank....
Pretty pumped on the running boards and the Belt drive, but I have to say that this morning's unveiling was pretty disappointing.
I have wondered for many years why the big four didn't go to a belt drive a long time ago. Anyone know why they wouldn't? To me it seems like it would be cheaper...
I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. Looks like the battery on my 09 XP is getting old, still works once the sled is warmed up, but won't start first thing in the morning. Any recommended after market batteries? Better price than a ski doo battery, lighter weight? Both?
A great pow day from last year:
Revy in November
720 foot Bungee jump
a little mountain bike action
Indoor sky diving
That should be enough entertainment for a while.
Add about +10 to the Garmin Rino 530HCX. Nearly everyone I know has them and they are brilliant when all we do is ride in the trees. It has helped us navigate a handful of times when we weren't exactly sure where we were going, but the big bonus is tracking down friends stuck in the woods.
Horrible to hear about your friend, best wishes to him and hope for a happy recovery.
I stopped going into public hot tubs many years ago. You have to worry about the hygene of random strangers as well as the competence of an underpaid hotel worker. I'll only go in a friends hot tub if I know...
It's all about the editing of the footage and you don't have to worry about pulling out a camera all the time, strap it to your head and leave it running...
