I found a set of summit 146" rails.. will i be able to just siwtch those out with my stock rails?

Its a 2010 renegade backcountry x 800.... I think im gonna keep my skid and just get 146" rails then drill out that protector.. a guy at my local sled shop said if i drill that out ill be able to put on a 2.5" track... just wondering if thats all ill have to do and buy cause im kinda on a tight...
