If you use CHIRP or a similar software you can set your radio so that it is not "field" programable. This might keep the govt happy?????.

Update to my testing my UVB2 PLUS. Battery life jumped up to 20 hours on the 4800 mah battery using my test method. So not too bad of a purchase in spite of the low out put wattage. Caper thanks for pointing out my mistake in not posting that I had the Uvb2Plus not the lower wattage unit...
