Brutal.
These people should be beyond ashamed of themselves. Who do you think you are? If you wanna wreck something, go home and smash your windows you meat-heads.
I can't believe a few people from in the cabin didn't go out and give these guys an earful. I'm not saying beat the shat outta...
If you guys are that new to this game, I am assuming you don't have any Avy experience or training.
Before you worry about what sleds are going to get you up the mountain, you should worry about what might be coming down that mountain while you are doing so.
A big dump means warnings go up...
Re: Official REVY Riding conditions 2011/12
Spent three days in Revy. Only rode 2 thanks to broke-down sled. Luckily Clayton @ Smoky Bear gave me his Turbo the last day and let me ride so I didn't completely waste a weekend. Thanks so much Clayton and Kathy for another good weekend @ Smoky...
Re: Do yow wear an Avalanche Air Bag in the Mountains
Sounds like you just got out of your course with Lori at Zac's Tracs. When we took our AST 1 she told us the same thing.
Fact is, that none of the items listed (beacon, probe, shovel, avi pack, good gear, survival tools, first aid kit...
Same here.
I have a Float 30. Have never used it, then again, I just bought it this fall. But I hope to never use it. I also have a Beacon that I have never had to use yet (I wear it, I'm just saying I haven't had to do a rescue). Except to practice with it.
Seemed like there was a good trail from Coal Creek back to Wranglers. I know it was a bit of a "back route" but with proper signage, that could be a good way into Wranglers. We also took the other route, where we had to ride on the road for about 6 miles. Not a lot of fun. Didn't see any...
Stay at Smokey Bear Cabins. If you can ride from peaks or Glacier, you'll be able to ride the back way from Smoky Bear past the sled shed.
$50 per person gets you a cabin, a REALLY good breakfast and a packed trail lunch. Also, a guy that will tell "some" of the good spots. Clayton really...
Great Work you folks.
Everything looks awesome. I wish I lived closer so that I could come up and lend a hand. I will be there this winter though enjoying all of your hard work.
Thanks for all you do out there. You sure make it a treat to come to Revy and ride.
Can't wait for the snow to...
Agreed. Perhaps if I lived right there, I'd head up for a ride or two. But since I have to make the 12 hour trek out to Revy, I usually wait until at least December when the snow is really good. I too like to go out and kill my dinner during the month of November.
While I do agree with the above comments, lets face it...It's a sled. I don't know about you guys, but my Tach sits just over 8 grand all day (so long as I have it running right).
So as for bagging the thing, how much more can you "bag" a sled then by holding it to the pin all day every day...
A guy should set up a Rad on the front with a quick disconnect that you can drop off at the gas drop. That way, you would have a real functioning rad (no fan) for on the trail. Then when you get up into the good stuff, you toss it aside, ride all day and then put er back on for the trip down.
