LEDs don't have ballasts. A ballast is a combination of capacitors and resistors with a electronic controller. Hids require high voltage (in the hundreds to thousands of volts) for start up. The little box that some LEDs have is just a electronic controller. LEDs don't require high start up...

Looks really cool! I was building something like this a few years ago. I was pretty young so it never got finished, I'm planning on starting something like this over the summer. Can you post more pics? Just more details, suspension, drivetrain.... Can't decide between a sled motor or a 600cc...

Great ride up there today! Snow was good but it was +6 so melting fast. Found some wicked powder off the main trails, gotta go hunting for it though.

I didn't have time to read whole thread, but I'm a apple fan, always have been, may or may not always be, but I love my Apple TV 2. It's jail broken and I run a program called xbmc. I have canceled my cable, the only thing I'm missing is some sports but there are ways to make that work as well...
