Damn. It gets worse. Took the bottom end to the dealer to have the crank seals replaced since everything was torn down. Turns out my PTO side bearing is effed, split the cage which in turn wrecked the seal and likely is the reason for my PTO side cylinder and piston to be effed. Not a happy...
What method did you use for checking the compression? I've been told by a few different people, all competent/knowledgable mechanics that how you check compression will affect what reading you get. I've also heard that guages can vary in reading quite a bit. I check on a room temperature...
stubby and long 15mm, 11mm, 10mm, 8mm, and a set of allen wrenches. Also a leatherman. I think about things I may have to do on the hill...adjust primary, adjust track, simple things...
I put a 2013 Pro seat on my 2011 Assault RMK... Really like the change. It seems to sit a little taller, is quite a bit shorter, and the "bum spot" is flatter and more comfy than the 11-12 stock seats. not sure how the price compares to Boss and other aftermarket seats, but I paid 300-ish...
Sounds like the throttle position sensor or TPS... Dealer can check that it is within its perameters or out of whack. There's a post on here somewhere on how to make your own testor if you are so inclined...
Well, the motor is on the table. I got ambitious and got the engine compartment fairly well cleaned. Aside hanging the sled upside down and pressure washing it with a degreaser, it won't get much cleaner. I await parts now, fingers crossed that they show up by this weekend!!!
Actually was just asking myself the same question...lol. I know I took the secondary to the dealer and they replaced a "bushing", I have the old one. However I don't see it broken down in the Team LWT diagram in the service manual...kind of curious now...???
Wonder if someone could enlighten me as to the PTO crank seal...does the cases have to be split or can this seal be replaced externally? I'm about to pull the whole engine out of there for two reasons, 1) I have had a leaky oil cap for some time and its created quite a mess everywhere, 2)...
Give the clutches a good service, I just had my secondary lock up on me from worn bushings. The primary also was ready for some maintenance. Lucky for me that the secondary locked up because my top end was ready to tank next. I didn't have any damage to anything other than the piston and...
Thanks for all your replies. There are a few places that do 599$/core exchange, that is likely what I will be doing. Will go with the place that has the fastest turn around time. My father in law thought about the snow dust also because of the chipping and nicking on the darker (PTO) side...
sounds similar to how my '11 was sounding last sunday before it croaked. My riding buddy, who is more mechanically inclined than I, suspected my clutches needed an overhaul...at the end of the day, my secondary seized up, pretty much confirming his suspicians, but I also tore into my motor and...
Only time deto warning came on was at around 200kms when the sled was brand new. I was running premium fuel with the ethanol resistor when it happened (thought it would be a safe thing to do). I was told to run non-ethanol resistor with premium fuel and that if I had to run regular fuel in a...
3900kms on the machine, no issues until now.
Those of you who have used the MongooseMachine, how much has it cost to have the cylinders resurfaced?
Cuso, I can't think of why the piston/cylinder has the damage it does. The locator pins are in their rightful locations, rim of the piston has...
Spent last weekend in Valemount and Blue River. Last day, 6kms from the truck, my 2011 RMK Assault locked up, stalled, and skidded to a halt. Checked a few things over, the motor turned freely and even fired up, but the secondary clutch couldn't be spread to remove the belt. Back home now, I...
Actually I did think about it, a lot, and I think it would also work as a diciplinary threat... Not too many kids would act up with the possibility of flying lead as the consequence. Notice I said "SOLID MINDED"...thats the key to the matter. If everyone was "SOLID MINDED" instead of sick and...
I'm just going to throw this out there... No matter what they take away, what laws they make, restrictions on normal law abiding citizens, criminals and sick/twisted individuals are always going to find a way to destroy their fellow man. If its not a gun it will be pipe bombs, or knives...
I'm 6'1", test rode one for my wife. It was slightly cramped, but depending on how long you spent riding at a time it wouldn't be too bad. I really liked the motor, it was a torquey little thing, quite a hoot.
Not quite as comfy and zoom-zoom as my Hayabusa, but I wouldn't mind one for a...
Check out Silent Pass. Take highway towards Radium and turn at Parson. Depending on the snow, the logging road might be 20-30kms to the parking area. We're sask boys also, rode Quartz and Silent last year, Silent was our fav over Quartz. There is/was a Ski-doo dealer, as well as A-Cat and...
