Well, if nothing else, y'all have made me laugh...lol. I usually only ride with a 2012 RMK Assault, that since my rebuild has started whining lol...being as I've been able outperform it :)
I should have clarified, my sled is a 2011 RMK Assault with 2500-ish miles on it. The whining started...
Wondering if someone could help me pinpoint a whining noise. It sounds like the noise made when the brake is engaged, but its when on the throttle, off the throttle, louder when brake is engaged. It goes away when the sled is stationary or if I lock the brake/track when I'm moving... Any...
We've found that throwing a couple handfulls of [uncolored] snow helps minimize the charring... Sometimes the cook time is less than it takes to find the optimum dining area... :)
Me and my buddy each have one. My sled is a '11, his a '12. They sound great and the cooking is awesome!! I bought mine from Backus Racing, they recommended adding a couple grams of weight to the primary because The Thing is supposed to flow better than stock. I didn't find that I needed to...
I'm dealing with a similar issue. Backshifting works the same as upshifting...the primary and secondary need to be working together. In order for your secondary to backshift (belt to ride higher on the secondary), the primary has to release or let the belt ride lower. In my case, I seem to be...
Do yourself a favor and order up some RKTek top end parts. I did and it sure made a difference. I ordered from David (feethookersCanada) a site member and sponsor. The RKTek stuff is awesome.
FWIW...I just paid 13.99 for one from Snow World, a local parts/accessories place, not brand specific. Hope it works, because I just tore everything down to the chassis and cleaned it when I was rebuilding the motor. I put a new oil cap on there too...
Both clutches have been "rebuilt". Primary has new buttons, bushings, pins, and 140/330 spring which is the stock spring. I am concerned about the primary because I took it to the dealer to take apart, they returned it to me with a new bushing and said everything else was fine and within spec...
Any dealer that values their customers will go to bat for them. At the end of the day, Polaris isn't paying the bills that keep the doors open, its the consumers. Not only recreational vehicle dealers, but any vehicle dealer has the same opportunity to be good guys or bad guys. Problem is, it...
2011...2500 miles. Some strange testing today... Put my 10-62 weights which would typically be used in the mountains in the stock machine. It ran awesome. Pulled 8300-8400 consistantly, totally rocked my world. My buddy suggested putting his complete clutches on my machine with 68g weights...
Hi All,
I completed the motor rebuild with the RKTek high compression pistons and 13:1 head. Last night was the inaugural flight. It pulls hard, very hard, but doesn't hold rpm. From engagement to pinned (for short period of time, 15-30 seconds) it will snap out at 8000-8100rpm, but...
Quite frankly, I welcome LEO presence...it should eliminate the idiots who feel the need to get hammered on the hill and perhaps get rid of some stupid people. I'm all for whoever wants to make the experience safer (from stupid people) and more fun!!!
Hey most Educated ones,
Base gasket between cylinders and bottom end cases. Rib/bump up or down? Manual doesn't say, I don't want to make a costly mistake.
Thats what my 2011 Assault looked like. Reason for mine going like that was the PTO side crank seal was wrecked from flying crank bearing parts... Some food for thought...
Love that retro snow checked model. Local dealer has one that a guy couldn't pay for, I made them an offer on it but they have some BS excuse that Polaris won't let them sell it for any less than full MSRP until its out of season...??
Do yourself a favor and inspect your bottom end crank seals and bearings also Harry... Your condition sounds like what I had recently... I'm going to end up with a totally new/rebuilt motor...
Yes, likely a blessing in disguise... No telling what extent the damage might have been if I hadn't pulled the bottom out and ran it with the new top end. Hopefully the bearings on the new or "reconditioned" crank are much better than what Polaris used from the factory. If that is the case...
