my guess is that the m1000 you rode with was an '07 or '08 which are 22 lbs heavier than the '09+ m1000's, that or perhaps the rider was a little lacking in the throttle/confidence department because in my experience, a new XP doesn't out climb a new m1k, not to mention going against all logic.

I own a 2009 M1000 sno pro 153 and I've ridden the 09 XP 146 as well. 2 completely different beasts. The XP has higher-revving plant with a bit more rank of a power band, and more track speed due to being a bit shorter. Because of this, the Summit is snappier in terms of burst speed but the...
