Don't have the full story yet, one did according to the post on the other website from one of the victims, but it did not fire....he was not sure if it was his fault or the bag...he was going to test it and provide more of the story when he got home. Revy SAR was involved according to the...

Thank...
I will ask the guy at the show on Saturday for you. The older version is down to 119.00, not sure of the price for the new version.
I will either post or pm you on any location that has the new version in Edmonton. (London drugs, Best Buy...and many more carry the old Version)
On a side note...

It was awesome, Krebsy and I all the way back to Turbo!
Thinking of going next week again, when are you there? You can send a PM if you wish.
Well all ends well!!!
The guys where ok.....they had it together to survive....and the SPOT worked fine. A happy ending for all, and thanks SPOT for taking this seriously and responding...it shows class!
And just for the record...mine has never failed to send a message!
short of looking at a temperature chart on the day your going, an easy rule is to use standard or saturated lapse rate. on a dry day...seldom in Revy, its 2.0 degrees per thousand foot gain in altitute.
More common is the saturated rate of 1.5 degrees celcius per thousand foot gain.
The airport...
I don't want to be hard on you...but if you read my earlier post, You will see that the globalstar satellites do indeed have problems as you mention. It has nothing....nothing...to do with cloud cover. It is a transponder malfunction issue with the satellite. The satellites are going to be...
Well...maybe Im just getting old....I use to fly for a living...hence the Captain so I know GPS well...
I carry extra fuel, gps, frs/gmrs, fire starter, spot, emergency blanket, saws, flash light, extra batteries, extra food and water, wind proof lighter, beacon, shovel, ABS, first aid kit...
The globalstar satellite does handle both phone and spot. We all know they have had issues with the sat phones, but they have insisted that the spot works off different transponders (only one way communication) and was immune to the problems.
I have tested mine (the first one bought in Calgary...
My buddy Krebsy and I rode tuesday and wednesday. Went all the way back to turbo...(first tracks back this year). 3-4 feet and a good 6 inches of fresh on a bit of a crust layer. (enough to get stuck a couple times) Don't think its to serious of a crust and Sofa King...poster of some awesome...
Hi-way 2 does not go to Black Diamond. But take hi-way 2 south of Calgary to the turn off (hi-way 2A) to Okotoks. At the south end of Okotoks take Hi-way number 7 to Black Diamond. Then follow the rest of the directions from above.
I do subscribe to the extra tracking feature, but unfortunatly I had the spot off. Wanted to make sure the batteries where good in the event I needed it, even though I also had a new 4 pk of lithium batteries with me. With the foot of new snow it would be buried, however someone spring riding...
Yes, one of my buddies and I each had a garmin rino 530. Both fairly new. I had a new data card in mine and was going to track us in and out but his was dead so I gave him mine and took his to charge as I had put a 12 volt on my sled. I kept his off to charge faster and he did not turn tracking...
More Ironic than you will ever guess. We almost spent the night on the mountain. Visibility went to almost complete whiteout in the afternoon...the storm came from the east, very rare, and we had to dig a shelter and had a fire going in case we had to overnight. When the visibility got a little...
I also posted in the lost and found, but I lost my spot messenger, could be anywhere from boulder parking lot to turbo. In a neoprene case with clip.
Lost Easter Sunday.
