It's easy to get around on your own up there. Spas are on every corner in Radium and Invermere.

Some of our rides are 5-6000' vert and 50kms. My Trek rail has never let me down. I've also had to tow an SL bike on a big vert day to help it get through the day.
Not enough power with a sl,
I've ridden most of the mid power bikes and they are ok but just don't have the same fun factor as a full power model.
Nothing worse than running out of battery power 1/2 or 3/4 through a big Alpine ride.
The government is actually spending money it appears, we had a bunch of road work done on our trail by sites and trails this fall. They will be doing more next year too.

Snow is pretty thin still. Lots of hazards and creeks are open, not many places to cross without water skipping. Trail from wood shed to cabin is getting whooped already.

There's also white bark pine in the East Kootenays( common up high at Panorama and Forster area, It's endangered apparently. Lake Louise was fined for cutting a few down.
