I call Bullsht. May lose a very small amount of performance by running premium if it is not needed but i highly doubt it would cause a sled to stumble or run poorly. An engine makes the most power running the lowest octane fuel possible as long as there is no detonation etc. JMHO.
Installed one on my 06 M7 primary. Super easy to install. Works as advertised. Primary clutch to belt side clearance super easy to adjust and clutch engagement is now smooth as butter after banging in previously. Will be installing one on my 08 M1000 asap. Two thumbs up.
Had updates done on two 08 M1000s. Both were completely stock except for MBRP cans. Both sleds ran worse after the 09 updates. Added a Timbersled intake, Slp Y pipe and Linderman head mod for premium to one sled. Mods improved sled performance and sled runs much cleaner. Stock sled with updates...
Just letting you know what my experience has been. The way i understand it is that the ecu automatically adjusts the fuel mixture for different elevations and will add extra fuel at lower elevation and remove fuel at high elevation. My experience is that my sleds ecu may be adding a little too...
My 08 M1000 with SLP pipe set, PCV etc was doing the same thing at low elevation (ran good up high). My mag side cylinder has always ran cooler than the pto side and i confirmed this by putting my stock pipe and muffler on the sled and zeroing out my PCV. After leaning my sled out, i rarely drop...
Sold my SLP setup so i am using the stock pipe right now (7300-7400 rpm) with the Dalton adjustable primary weights. Looking at a set of Jaws Twins in the near future.
So how much weight are you pulling? I am between 83 - 84 grams at elevation with stock 08 M1000 other than a D&D Y pipe, Linderman head mod and Timbersled intake.
Guess it depends on what we compare it to. You can see the tracks in the second pic entering and exiting the slide, these were the 2 previous (lower) side hill passes. Third side hill pass (higher) tracks can be seen in first photo. Hill started to slide behind me after i was almost all the way...
Very poor snowpack at the higher elevations. North & South Lost windblown, little snow and high avy risk. Here are a couple pics from today. Set off 2 smaller avys, both within 15 minutes of each other. Took some pics of the second slide.
Got a fair bit of fresh in the Castle area a few days ago but still a lot of land mines with poor or no base. Trails are good but watch for open creeks etc. Snow was deep enough towards Lost Lake that there were 1/2 a dozen sleds stuck at one time trying to make their way in to the bowls the...
My brother and i might try getting into Lost again this Sunday and could use another rider or 2 to play it safe (due to conditions), let me know if you are back up this way.
Sounds like our day lol. My son had his hands full in the deep and ran into someones XP from another group. Still waiting to hear from the owner so i can pay for some minor repairs to his sled
