Could not agree more...
The Dragon and the Pro share the same poor designed pistons and the same crank.. But the 4 inj system was a problem..
My suggestion is to get a fuel control box to help with the poor stock mapping
Get the some good pistons in there
Get a better crank in there (2013...
we like the Boondocker fuel control boxes. The Power commander control boxes also work well,, But unless you have a 2013 or 2014 sled, you do not need a fuel control box
Deano, Sounds like a fine kit.. Best of luck to ya..
But since this thread is about INFORMATION on this engine and mods that state things that may not be correct.. I have to , again, point out a few things..
Not trying to be an A$$ just keeping true to the thread topic
1) Rod angles are NOT...
The angle of the connecting rod will not change with any change in piston or cylinder spacer.. The only way to change any angles is with a rod length change or stroking of the crank. Just clearing that up.
Heard another rumor on the 800 today..
1) RK Tek uses a largr diameter piston to tighten things up.... FALSE>> the piston we use is the same size as stock..it just stays the same size and does not collapse like stock.
It just keeps getting better!! LOL
As far as the bottoms... they are not part of any power making process..AT ALL.. and you are still within specs.. The loose piston thrusting against the unsupported lower cylinder skirt can "flare" it some.. But you are still in spec
My pleassure to help.. It is just that there is so much BS that surrounds this enigne.. I felt it would be good to try and get the real facts out there vs. the "fake" facts.
As for my heads and pistons.. We have ALL compression ratio heads, we make them all custom to order.. and YES the piston...
Legend is the best out there and yes, that and the high ratio would be a reason why yours are not as worn as others.. NICE!

You have about .008" clearance.. Actually, this is better than most with that many miles.. (do you ride flats or mountains?) most see upwards of .009"
Your cylinders seem to be in spec..(big shocker they are not .002"-003" out like the rumor states)
You should measure the cylinders above the...
NikaSil plating is near diamond hardness.. that is why it is used.. because it wears so well..
You are rubbing a smooth ductile steel (light steel) ring against a plating that is MUCH harder.. Can the plating wear? Yes, but it is like rubbing wood on a rock.. the wood (rings) wear much faster...
Why Polaris choose any name for any thing is not known.. what IS known is that the crank is on center... The crank nor the cylinder is OFFSET!
The 2013 crank will bolt into ANY of the CFI engines from 2008-2013. Bolts right in and functions perfectly..
The 2013 cylinder will NOT bolt onto a...
What is the question?? Do you mean do I want to argue with this guy because he does not believe me???
It has already been mentioned that there is no Offset crank.. This has been proven many times and VERIFIED by Polaris themselves...
You have one guy trying to convince everybody that the...
Yes, they did thicken up the lower cylinder skirt..
Why do this vs. a new piston?
Here are my thoughts and we are a mold making shop. so we totally understand tooling and mold design.
OK, making a new piston requires time and rigorous testing.. This takes time and money. from a business...
Very simple cause.. POOR RINGS!! Again.. very cheaply made pistons.
Another contributor is a loose piston.. This will allow the piston rings to become unparallel with the bore so you have more directed pressure on the rings surface vs. an even pressure when the rings are flush with the bore...
Not 100 correct
Polaris installed a very ,imited number of 2012 engines with the FUJI crank.. ONLY THEY knew which ones had them.. I suspect they did this to monitor/test.. let us test them like usual .. But most 2012 engines still had the MAPE crank..
