Yes great people, smaller homes, good quality of life and a clean safe country. One of the most expensive places on the planet to live yet professional wages half what we pay here. Way less disposable income, but well educated. They have taken taxation to a whole new level. Not many could...
I have been to Norway. The average citizen has no where close to the quality of life we as Albertan's have had. We got this way because the wealth from our resources was transferred to the people, not the government.

For those that are looking to upgrade or just to buy a great sled, this might be the best time to buy a new 2016 Summit T3.
154 T3 less than $11,000
163 T3 less than $12,000
174 T3 less than $13,000
These prices are all in, and you might doo better. A buddy just took delivery of a 2016 174...
Kudos to you for riding in the trees all the time. We had good snow but poor visibility in Golden on Saturday (Silent Pass) so we spent some time in the trees and it was fairly steep at times. I was re-acquainted with rolling my sled over and I am sure I will get the feeling back in my legs...
They all have their advantages and weak points. CanAm and Polaris for performance and Yamaha and Honda for reliability. With performance comes increased maintenance and for the Grizzly, they just don't break down but maybe because they have half the power. Just don't see too many Honda's out...
I relocated the rad on my Outlander - end of all the overheating problems. It just seems like the Polaris is more sensitive to overheating (maybe rad location, maybe size do the rad). I don't think I have seen a Polaris with a rad relocate. The Rad Blaster works well and so does the...
Polaris for sure is the most prone to overheating (mud in rad just like the rest of them). Electrical problems of all kinds on the Polaris too for some reason. CanAm is good as long as they are well maintained (I have two of them-have replaced many parts). We don't see too many Honda's. The...
Our Calgary ATV club rides with a lot of different machines. They are all good in their own way. Yamaha and Homda for reliability, CanAm for power and decent reliability. Polaris on the other hand have the most break downs by far compared to the others.
If a SAGD well costs $8,000,000 to drill, complete and construct, and an average well produces 700bbls/day for the first year. Now if it costs $15/bbl just to operate the well (water, natural gas -steam). At today's heavy oil price of $20/bbl, it would take a very long time to just pay out the...
Not too sure who your buddy is but he certainly isn't involved in any part of development or production accounting. If it wasn't for the necessity to keep SAGD wells flowing, many projects would be shut in below $50.

I agree Fred. But that was almost 30yrs ago. Costs just aren't nearly the same now especially in Canada. The USA is much more closely aligned to those costs and that is the reason why so much of the spend is moving south.

There are no supply costs at $19/bbl in Canada. The heavy oil guys are getting $19/bbl for their oil. Cost is much closer to $50/bbl. Except for strategic investment (mineral expiry), there will be no activity. In fact, many are letting go mineral land because price recovery is just too...
Rode in Golden last weekend-great conditions. Almost no sleds in town, hotels empty and the ski hill very quiet too.

There will be little investment in Canada in 2016, especially in NE AB. The heavier oil is selling at a $15 discount so they are only getting ~$20/bbl or less than half of what it costs to produce.

Hopefully exit 2016 north of $60. Oil hedges for 2016 in the low to mid $50"s. Natural Gas really sucks with BC (Stn 2) prices around $1.40 and AECO $2.25. With oil averaging in the mid $40"s for 2015, there is no room for a 2016 drilling program. Things (access to markets, and price) look...
Awful statistic - people need to hang in there and get the help they need, this isn't going to end for another 12 months.

Unfortunately nothing is going to happen. The NDP will get all their programs, tax and changes out early in their term. Hopefully people won't forget and make the same mistake next time - 42 months to go.
5% is a very low mortgage rate. Build your budget around this payment and if you are able to get a 5yr amortization around 2.5%, you will be able to pay the place off sooner. Building a budget at historically low rates could be risky in the long term.
