I think if it passes through close to your mouth it should allow air to pass through all the time, now the amount of air passing through it would be the question as it probably restricts air flow, which it should, as it is a type of barrier. My deck was a custom build and it was made so is dont bolt it to the box as I would have to alwas climb under the truck to remove it, I chain the deck down.
