as far as i know there is only one air bag light for the whole system, and thats the red airbag in the cluster of the dash... there is also an orange light that comes on when the passenger side airbag is disabled, which you should be able to turn off with the key when ya enable it again... but...
outside would be a good time, but your at the mercy of mom earth and her nasty sister rain... but the show outside and the swap meet inside would be ultimate

most of your bodyshops in town should be able to do this, its no different than painting the bumpers on vehicles... just maybe mention about adding more flex agent to the paint if ya take it in to them.

you can paint it, just sand it properly and use a good quality paint along with adhesion promoter and lots of flex agent... but changing the plastic to the correct color if possible is the best way
