By regulations that are based on current legislation, the area is a “Snow Vehicle Public Land Use Zone (P.L.U.Z.)” with “designated snowmobile trails” only. Officially, motorized snow bikes are not allowed there/recognized in legislation, even though a snow bike can not operate on anything...
What the graph below basically says is that to just south of the trail system there was a ton of snow fall. There is lots of snow on the trails, we just need to pack snow from the trailheads/parking lots out, and for a bit more to fall there.
Up at Highwood House - which is where Hwy 40, 940...

Highwood House - snow Tuesday but more Tuesday night! Then again flurries Thursday night through Friday overnight.
Lost Creek South - snow starting...
Just an FYI, I believe the area is not open until January 1, and only stays open in the winter until March 30. You may want to check on a government website.
I am not sure when you bought your membership, or where, but I know Glen and Cam work diligently to get our members on to Team Snap as quickly as possible. They just met yesterday again to exchange information and bring everyone on board the App. Let me know tonight at the meeting, or call me...
Not from the trailhead/parking lots. Not enough snow on Sunday to even run our club’s 550 fan SWT Skandic. Unless you are okay running your carbides down significantly on the dirt and rocks that the rain has now exposed, I would not recommend going to the Cataract Trails now. If a dump comes...
No work crews out on Friday, that I know of. A few of us are camping in the maintenance yard, and no communication back to the outside world except for SPOT until people return on Saturday night, I believe.
With the amount of snow out there right now, I expect very little, as there is really good early season snow - by Cataract standards. If anything, it has caused the fluffy, sugary snow to density up and settle, creating a great base to start the season. Saturday’s work crews will have a report...
Glen and another club member are out there today working, and myself and another member were out there yesterday. Only bad news was the wind, that rocked/tipped the truck & camper with trailer in tow we took out their yesterday. I don’t want to repeat that anytime soon!
We started our day on a...
The graph below shows the snow coming in just south of the designated trail system, at the south end of the area itself, and north where you turn off on Hwy 541 - Highwood House. Since the 12th, the snow has been coming, to the south for sure.
A couple of Trail Committee members were out at Cataract yesterday clearing trial again. They started from the south end of Oyster Excursion Trail - the very south and west point of the trail system (and best snow) - and headed north. There were many trees blown down and after 5 1/2 hours of...
