Rock/top of boulder seen too late for speed moving at, and could not avoid. Snapped lower A-arm, twisted upper, and the rest will announce itself as disassembly starts. Made a whoopty-doo’ed ride out very long, tiring, and whoopty-doo’ed.
The designated snowmobile trails close at the end of April, but I doubt we will make it anywhere close to that date, because of snow availability in the valley bottoms, out from the Maintenance Yard.
Within the trail system there is limited “off-trail” riding area/space - the system is within a regulated, harvested forest. It is not recommended to go into cut-blocks, as there is much debris, stumps, and low snow. Outside of the system - to the south and also west into B.C. - there is more...
The trails are on Public Land, on a designated Snow Vehicle PLUZ. The Information I have received from a government official is that they will not be issuing tickets to snow bikes, on the trails. When ANY Snow Vehicle leaves the trails, all bets are off. I have never heard of a snowmobile or...
And here is the guy leading the volunteers, doing repairs on the grooming sleds on a Saturday, when the rest of us were out on the fresh two feet of powder. Thanks Glen!
If anyone would like to do an intensive tour of the trails at Cataract, I need to put miles on to break in my new engine, and will be make two long runs on Saturday, leaving Etherington parking lot by 10 AM, and going from the north end of the system to the very south and back. I will do the...
Trail maps are good, in the map boxes at the trailheads. Glen has done much work to write the names of trails on the orange diamond snowmobile trail markers.
Question 1 - How is your daughter, her bruise?
Question 2 - Did you ever reach anyone about the come-along?
If not, please call me, Scott @ 403-560-6652, or P.M. Glen - Trails Committee Organizer - a message @ Sledderglen here on S&M, and we will get it back to the appropriate person. All...
Awesome, thanks so much. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the Royal Canadian Legion #275, 755 - 40th St. SE., 7 PM. No need for the Esso diesel card, we source through another program, saving us precious, hard-to-come-by dollars for the club.
I had someone email me that exact question this morning. You may go to our club website and either join as a member ($105) or provide a Grouser Bar Sponsorship ($100) as two methods. If you would like to provide funds, but want it to be smaller that either of these amounts, please call me -...
Thank you! You have joined a group committed to snowmobiling in general, and the work volunteers undertake at Cataract - be it winter or not. Look for Glen and his fellow trail stewards out there, grooming up a storm yesterday and today. I believe he indicated that he would be back out on...
We shuttle diesel from Hwy 940 on a custom built sled trailer, in a custom build diesel tank (both donated to the club from supporting individuals/companies) when the groomer is not brought back to the maintenance yard on those days/nights it is left overnight on the trail system.
The future looks bright, as discussions we were apart of had linking Cataract to Atlas as a priority. I hope the decision makers in Edmonton agree with their employees on the ground, responsible for the area.
Last year some knowledgeable club members, who knew the old trail in the bush, made it from Cataract to the Dutch Creek intersection on the Atlas Road. Because of the conditions on that bush trail, going was slow. They turned around because of the time of day, and what they had to go back...
