Ouch...that sucks. Dr Bray is a great surgeon and the clinic at UofC is amazing. My knee is pretty good with normal life (even crossfit classes). Sledding without my brace results in a knee being 3 times the size and no ability to bend it. I actually forgot it one weekend and then saw my family...
Thanks for adding your expert knowledge. My brace was actually prescribed by Dr. Bray from the UofC Sports Medicine Clinic. And yes, I have pretty much no cartilage left in my knee along with a ACL Reconstruction. Not sure how many year's left on the knee but if I don't wear my brace while...
Better check where you are buying your premium fuel from...give the "high" price of it, it sits for ages. We bought some last year and it was obvious by the smell it was bad. We talked to a fuel station owner in Crownest Pass last winter and he said he barely sells any premium and most sleds are...
Custom braces work the best but may require $$$ investment if you don't have insurance coverage. I had a custom one done for down hill skiing more that 10 years ago and I am still wearing the same one for sledding. Last year, I did replace some of the straps and velcro padding. My knee is shot...
Maybe we can bring you some shiney Polaris stuff for the garage :d.
I doubt Ryan will come. The trailer idea would probably be easier. We will bug Doug this weekend about it.
There are lots of trails from the York Creek Staging area. You will be able to spend the entire day there exploring. You can actually ride south all the way to the south snowmobile shelter.
Re: March 18/2012 Whistler, BC - All Women's Snowmobile Clinic with Julie-Ann Chapman
Didn't realize everything had to be "sponsored" by Snow and Mud. Rowdy was sharing a great sled learning opportunity for other women. There are lots of other posts for rides that are not sponsored by S&M that...
My first trip wasn't as bad as Sledmamma's. We unloaded in Crowsnest Pass 2 brand new 08 Dragons. I had NEVER ridden a sled before even on prairie. Took off with a good friend from CNP. Within 20 minutes, I roll it down into a little ravine and used my head to stop it from rolling further. I...
I can share my experience...I busted my collarbone quite badly sledding 2 years ago. It didn't turn me off sledding but it did suck missing the entire season of riding since I did it on the second day out. Last year, I was more timid over certain things. Halfway thru last year, I did switch...
I have used good old nail-polish remover or acetone. It removes the goo and has never hurt my plastic. Used on multiple quads and sleds. Wash the panels well with soap and water before applying the vinyl. I have a spray bottle with soapy water that I spray the panel and back of the vinyl piece...
Thanks Trish...rub it in that you got snow. We had +10C temps on November 11 here. Still haven't seen one snow flake at our place :(. But I hear the snow is starting to accumulate in the mountains. Maybe we can do an early ride this year.
We should try and hook up sledding this winter. We ride lots around the Crowsnest Pass area (both sledding & quading). There are lots a great areas there. We have good friends that live there and have ridden for 30 years so know all of the "cool" spots.
Yes, congrats Stephanie and Ashley and to Skidoo to stepping up to realize their talents. Great to see another manufacture support women in powersports.
I just purchased a Diva Gear tek vest. You can get regular Tek vests from Klim also. I did try a 661 vest but didn't like it for sledding. I do wear it for quading. The one I picked didn't allow for enough arm movement. The Tek vest is alot better. I got tossed from my sled a couple of years ago...
I made the switch to Klim gear 2 years ago. I have been happy with it. Never cold or wet. I bought the women's line which is all insulated. I am fine with it as I tend to run on the cold side all of the time (even when not sledding). I like the bibs since they have a drop seat. This year Klim...
Thanks for the post. The garage is my dear hubbie's dream cave. Spiralus is out of Calgary. Their website is http://www.spiralusdesign.com
Marc is really good at doing custom designs but has some really cool available on his website.
