I think the main reason for the ban is NOT that ATV's will start a fire, it is that they don't want PEOPLE out in the bush at all right now, period. ATV's are source of mobility to get far into crown land, people who smoke ride ATV's, people have lunch campfires on the trails, there are some...
Going to put a big dent in Alberta's economy if they ban OHV use for most of the summer, people buy RV's, gas, food, trucks, rent, buy machines, etc. Yes I realize that fighting fires costs the province more that what OHV brings in, but this affects the chain, gas stores, parts shops, power...
I think the main reason for the OHV ban is to keep people out of the bush, for now. At least that is what I am hoping. We will abide, always do,but am not happy either way. They still have not said what started the fire exactly. Let's all hope it was NOT an ATV that started it all, probably hard...
So here is the lowdown on the Pioneer 1000-5, absolutely love it. Quiet cab, can carry on a conversation without yelling, does not get as hot either (we have full roof)as commander . Hubby loves the shifting, and no belts to worry about. Not as quick as 1000 commander, but hey how fast do you...
We just picked up the Honda Pioneer 1000-5, we plan on taking it out next weekend and I will report back about how it went. We had the Can-Am Commander 1000 for a couple of years, too noisy in the cab, more than enough power though, but hubby did not like the maintenance and he is a mechanic.
Our golden retriever just laid down on the back seat, if I thought she might get dumped, I had her get off first. We have a shi-Tzu now and he only comes in the sxs.
Raptor toyhauler, 5th wheel, 1 slide, couch/table, never leaks, works everytime, no mice, although mice have come up through the plumbing but cant get out of the cabinets, solved that real quick with expandable foam underneath.
2003 Toyota RAV4 just turned 350000kms, trouble free. A little smaller than the ones you mentioned, but great for city driving, easy to park anywhere, this thing owes me nothing, would buy another one in a heartbeat.
Nothing like that yet in Alberta, still winter, although we have had basically no winter at all this season,(never even got the sleds out) snow is almost gone here, at least in central AB. But I do have a neat picture to show you all.
