I suppose you were never a first timer either? A pro from the get go? Probably actually never been stuck. Let alone on a trail. I'm sure you would have been one of the douchebags that wouldn't have lent a hand either.
Just a heads up. On the older ones with issues, it was usually due to the lifters being housed in PLASTIC (WTF) "guides". With engine heat, etc, the lifters would spin in those guides. Being roller lifters, this takes out a camshaft REALLY fast.
Disabling DOD is not gonna do anything to combat...
