In order to avoid it filling with snow I used a chunk of 1/8th Teflon and some U-bolts to build a cover over the hitch bar... works really good, specially into the spring when you can load an extra 300lbs of wet snow in there after a mile or two.

I’ve done a few things including my sled deck this fall, it’s all in the prep. Sand it down, acetone wash, self etching primer then touch it with a scotch brite pad and decide wether you want to roll it on or spray it.
