Official report is that the Ft Nelson fire was started in a wind storm when a tree fell on a powerline. Fire crews attended but it had already spread into a wildfire by the time they got there.

Company I work for has been supplying them materials for the transmission line that will feed the mine. Lots of plan changes from them so far. The mine is a go though it has passed all the environmental hurdles. My BIL logged the mine area off last summer/fall.

Logging companies are responsible for maintaining roads and they get credit back from the government on their stumpage bills for doing that work. If they have no logging permits up that road they don't get credit back and eventually they want to be clear of the liability of maintaining a road...
